Worst experience I have ever had when it comes to gym or service in general. If you enjoy being harassed and made fun of for any flaw that you have, come to this gym. They will cut corners where ever they can and will treat you like garbage, especially if you refuse to sign up for a Personal Trainer. The Head of Personal Training, I don't remember what his name was, is rude, disrespectful and sleaziest person I have ever dealt with. In a brief meeting with him, I have never heard so many curse words, cruel remarks about his staff, people who he thought was fat are disgusting pigs and how the whole time he expected me to give him my personal phone number so he could contact me outside of the gym. I blocked him the moment I left the gym. He seemed better as a used car sales man than personal trainer. His remarks about some random staffer were just cruel and were brought on for no reason. I had no idea why he thought I was the kind of person who wanted to hear this stuff but he kept insisting that it was because he could tell what kind of person I was (????). The whole meeting left me wanting to take a shower.
Upon signing up you're given a Code, Username, and Password. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY OF THIS ON PAPER. After asking for it, they insist that i drive to their location so they can ha d write it to me after i present them my ID (this was a gym membership not my checking account??) Someone then wrote my information down on paper and gave it to me where I later found out that it didn't even work. They said they would mail a copy to me (they couldn't email me for "some reason"????). THEY NEVER DID!
As of now, I realized that's how the gym is, I called in and cancelled. A month later I get another call asking for collections, when I told them that I had already cancelled with them. They said that it couldn't be done over the phone so I had to pay them for the month that I was told I was cancelled. However they said that you cannot cancel over the phone so who ever I spoke to had lied to me and now I have to pay for the month where I thought I had previously had finished with.
Now here's the best part, in order to cancel your membership you need to have your Code, Username and Password. ALL OF WHICH WAS NEVER GIVEN TO ME IN THE FIRST PLACE! So now I have been emailing Corporate back and forth and are telling me to mail by snail mail. Don't forget they still expect me to pay for the month I didn't realize I was still signed on to. And guess how they expect me to pay for it? ON THEIR SITE WHERE YOU NEED THE CODE, USERNAME, AND PASSWORD THAT WAS NEVER EVEN GIVEN TO ME EVER.
Right now the gym looks great but I suspect that being because everything is new. I'm sure in 6 months it'll be just as disgusting since I didn't see anyone bothering to actually clean up after themselves.
In conclusion: if you enjoy being treated like garbage, constantly judged and ripped off, Come to LA Fitness!
I should probably add I have never felt a need to ever post an actual review of any place I have ever visited but this place...
Read moreI’ll break this review down into categories the best I can:
Equipment and weights: pretty much everything you could ask for. Dumbbells up to 100, two sets of each dumbbell weight. Tons of cardio equipment and adequate area for stretching in the hardwood area where they hold classes. They have ample amount of classes and trainers available. 5/5
Hours: opens early on the weekdays. I wish this gym was open until midnight during the weekdays and later than 8 on the weekends but it’s not that big of a deal if you don’t workout in the late night. If you want a decent workout, best times are between 11am-4pm & 8:30pm-close on weekdays. 4/5 on hours.
Staff: There are some very friendly front desk staff here. Probably 3 employees. The rest don’t really care for you unless you are their friend. If you don’t care about staff then this shouldn’t bother you. 3/5
Cleanliness: Horrible. For the size of this gym and the amount of the people that use it, I’m surprised that they don’t staff more than one custodial employee throughout the day (if there is one even staffed and if they do anything beside change trash). Half the urinals in the men’s locker room are non functioning all the time. Dust and hair under all the machines. Don’t use the restroom or shower here and definitely don’t put your water bottle or phone on the ground anywhere in the gym, it will be cover in diet and dust. So sad that the reviews constantly state there is a restroom cleanliness problem but no one takes care of it (lack of soap and paper towel) Maybe they should subcontract the cleaning for the facility since they can’t handle it themselves. 1/5
Price: cheaper than lifetime, and more expensive than planet fitness. You get what you pay for here with space and amount of free weights. My price has remained constant with no surprise fees for almost two years. 5/5 for keeping price constant and reasonable. 4/5
Overall: If you don’t care about rude staff and a semi dirty facility, I recommend working out here! I’ll still continue to workout here, but it would be nice if they addressed their cleanliness issues. I love the gym, but again, address your dirty floors and locker...
Read moreSuper Disappointed! I've been working towards joining this gym, hiring a personal trainer and getting going for several months. Prior to joining I have spent 6 weeks in an intensive diet program. I've purchased clothing, bought shoes and spent the money on the membership. After my first consult, I signed up for 6 months, two a week, personal training sessions. Me and Mike (The Sales Rep/Personal trainer who got worked with me) did a decent job at building value in the Personal Trainer program. After some batting back and forth, we agreed on an amount of $360 per month, for six months! Yeah! Not cheap, but I am invested in my health. Over the 6 months, I was about to commit to paying $2160.00! I was ready, even though I thought that was high, I felt it was worth it. I couldn't pay that evening after my assessment. I had not brought my wallet in that night so I we both agreed that I'd come in the next morning with the $360.00 we had agreed to. I was to be there at 10:15am. I arrived, no Mike, but I was greeting by some other guy (a "manager" I'm guessing?"). He made some awkward small talk while logging into his system so he could retrieve my bill and take my money. His price was $99.00 higher then I had agreed to the night before. Not cool! I work in a high end retail business where if you make a commitment, you do what you say you're going to do. I simply told him I wasn't going to pay the $99.00 start up fee. Keep in mind, I just had joined this gym....where I did pay a "start up fee" and two months upfront. Now, three days later they wanted to hit me up with another "start up fee"?. Ouch! So, I told him I wasn't going to pay the start up, but I would give him the amount I agreed to just 12 hours before....$360.00. He didn't say a word...he stuck out his hand an smugly said "have a nice day". So, they let an excited customer leave...a customer with a min. yearly value of about $3000 over a $99.00 start up fee? Who and what company does that?I've never let a customer walk over a start up fee. ever! Then, to be so smug...like "we dont need you anyways? Wow! Needless to say, I canceled my membership and will be...
