Came in for the first time yesterday evening with my boyfriend. I was really looking forward to a good smoothie as I love smoothies and being pregnant itās been hard to stomach a lot of other food right now. I ordered the Sunshine and he ordered the Sunrise smoothie. It was busy and the staff moved quickly and were friendly but when we left and I took a sip of my smoothie I was immediately disappointed. I tried a sip of my boyfriendās to see if it was just mine and felt his tasted very similar. I told my boyfriend it didnāt taste very great- kind of sour and not a lot of taste to it at all. He proceeded to try both smoothies and immediately agreed and said they tasted watered-down or something. He stated maybe they put too much ice and not enough fruit. The best way I could describe the taste was as if it was made from freezer-burned fruits that had already lost most of their taste. Even once we were home my daughter asked to have a sip of my smoothie and without me mentioning anything to her- her response was, āit kind of tastes watered- down momā (sheās 10). However I am disappointed and a bit put off to find out that one of my favorites there....Katie....no longer works there....I became even more upset when I read the post explaining why- the owners response to a bad review- I find it unpleasant for a company to fire someone because of a poor review or even a few....do they not realize that anyone can come on here and say whatever they want....very sad that someone can be fired simply because someone decides to complain about them on social media without actual proof the incident even happened. I will not be returning to a place who treats their employees this way....guess I will find somewhere else to buy my smoothies. Very sad and disappointing. Shame on you Tropical Smoothie...you should stand by your employees and if you must respond to bad reviews atleast offer some retraining before you fire someone. Clearly they don't care. They still push asking for tips. It's laughable. Today there was one employee and it took nearly half an hr to get a drink. All the blenders are blowing the air bubbles and she just sends it. If I got a receipt I'd fill the survey. I hate that this is my local one. I try to go to other ones when I leave the area but can't always. Also it's not good or safe to a one employee in the building. Maybe managers or owners need to step in and support and train... By the way when you put too much ice it's watered down and doesn't blend, hence the air pockets. I hate paying $9 for a smoothie for half the fruit to be dumped out.
