Cue the waterworks on this one. It's been almost a year since I joined this gym, when I started not only was I physically slacking but my mental health was slipping pretty drastically. I like many people was suffering from feelings of stagnation at work, a failing relationship, difficulty keeping to routines, lack of confidence, and just overall demotivated to do much other than to exist. This gym, the coaches, these people, and the community truly helped me turn it around. I was not a CrossFit person, shoot at this point in my life I wasn't really even "fit". People laughed and cast judgment about doing that "CrossFit cult" stuff but I just kept going because the environment made me feel.. accepted. Now, because of CrossFit Liquid, those same people who scoffed at my habits now ask me for fitness advice, offer words of encouragement, and compliment me about how I have grown physically but also mentally. I wish I could capture all the wonderful things that this gym and people have done for me but that book and journey is still ongoing. Like walking on the moon the first step is the hardest, but as you adjust to gravity, that foreign feeling of doing something new, then the most beautiful thing happens. You change. So if you have made it this far in my story (first off thank you haha), lean in and take a chance. Do it for yourself, do it because you know you need that change. This isn't Globo-Gym, we won't look at you in judgement from where you start, there is no side eye in the mirror, or that awkward feeling walking around trying to find the next workout machine. We do everything together (all scaled appropriately), offer playful banter, talk about our lives, children, and hobbies. You aren't thrown into the deep end like how our parents taught us to swim, you are lightly pushed (joking) with motivating words from the coaches and members. Shout out to the people who have been with me all this time, whether you knew it or not, you helped me get through the most difficult point in my life yet. Coaches: Terrance, Joy, Kelsey, Chuck, Amanda, Kat, Dani, John, Jordan, and Julie. Members: Eric, Kyle, Kevin, Hannah, Wendy, Kim, Casey, Gabi, Jenna, ALL the Danis, Hunter, Cynthia, Anthony, Mike, Ryland, Ice, Shannon, Mary-Beth, and Berit. See you at the 1630 class --...
Read moreAn absolute GEM. There arenât enough words to describe how amazing this box, owner, coaches and the community is. I am going on my 4th year as a CrossFitter, having been a member at multiple boxes in different areas, and having connections throughout the global CrossFit community, can confidently say that this box has all of the best components Iâve been looking for wrapped into one. You will not find another box in the Hampton Roads area that has such versatile offerings, 1:1 in-house nutrition coaching (I love being able to have someone IRL), skill-specific clinics, top-notch coaching/guidance, rigorous, yet fun programming, and so much more. No matter if you are a competitive athlete in the sport, a competitive weightlifter, taking preventative measures to combat aging, or looking to improve your overall fitness and well-being, CrossFit Liquid has it all. They truly take the time to discover your âwhyâ and tailor your experience to suit your goals. Overall this gym has far exceeded my expectations. The true magic that sets this gym apart from others in the space, is the community. At Liquid, I donât feel like just a ânumberâ, I feel like I am part of a family. The encouragement, support, comfort and genuine friendships this gymâs community has provided me with is PRICELESS, and for that I will be forever grateful. Donât just take my word for it, check them out and see for yourself what it truly means to be a part of something...
Read moreIâve never felt more comfortable and accepted at a gym before. They meet you where youâre at and never in a judgy way. Take it from someone that came from being in really good shape and fitness being a huge part of their life to getting pregnant and not coming to the gym for consistently or at all for almost 3 years. I was in the most uncomfortable position having to work backwards and start from square one and on top of that anxious about how others would look at me or judge. From the moment I stepped in the gym, it felt like home. I know that seems corny to say but it did! It felt super safe and you are free to be who you are and in whatever place you are in your fitness journey. Everyone is SO nice and warm and inviting. Which is very important to me because I felt I could focus on my fitness goals and not worry about how Iâm being perceived by anyone. The vibe is very caring and truly Terrance and his team care about your fitness goals and achieving them making you feel met where youâre at. Everyone challenges you but in a great way and not in a way to tear you down or feel you are in a negative competition with anyone. The way that pushes you when you need a push or allow you to scale your workout to when you arenât feeling your best or have injuries. Even if you canât do the workout times you have access 24/7 which is a huge plus for the busy lives out there. I mean this gym just legit is your home. You...
