Normally I'm thrilled with my experiences at Mission BBQ Newport News, however today I ordered carry-out and when the guy showed me the food, opening the styrofoam container. I noticed it had a vertical tear (rip) on the styrofoam containers wall, at the rear corner, about half its height at the part were the top (lid) meets the bottom of the container and put it in the brown paper bag. As soon as I got home and removed the styrofoam container from the bag, the container tears open, dropping all my food on the floor wasting it. I can't help but think this wasn't my clumsiness, but Mission BBQ providing a broken styrofoam container.
I eaten (ordered) at Mission BBQ a lot, three(3) times this week alone ordering the same thing or more with sides and the styrofoam container hadn't failed until today. I can backup all my orders and I personally know my experiences at this establishment. This was a big fail and let down for me having this happen over the container the food is in failing, wasted my money, and time. Not to mention, being hungry, and now cleaning up the food I wanted up off the floor.
If you want to make it right that would make me happy, but in the future don't use styrofoam containers that are compromised and thus can't support the amount of food you provide which is a generous amount. In the future myself, I'll be more curious about the status of the styrofoam container over the food before I take...
Read moreTo start this off, I'd like to say my girlfriend and I went after being told the new Korean BBQ place was going to be a 35 minute wait. We said in the car that if it's over 30 minutes, we wouldn't wait. It was still our date night, both of us dressed up a bit, and wanted to go to eat somewhere. She's from Texas, so BBQ was an easy decision, though I made sure it wasn't a fast food place. It had the same ordering process as the BBQ places I've been to in bigger cities like LA or Chicago, The atmosphere was good, honestly as a military person I was making jokes about how much the liked military there even though I didn't ask if they had a discount. Service was fine. I'm pretty sure the girl was new, because there was a woman behind her that kind of knew it was our first time there and made sure to ask. We didn't really need help, because the menu is easy enough. I don't think there was anything wrong with that transaction. If the girl wasn't new, I'm not sure why she has a helper behind her. The food was fantastic. I can't even begin to explain how good that food was for the price. It was $40 for 2 people to eat and we had a sit down dining experience essentially minus the refills and the food was better than most places you have that. I don't care if this is a chain, the brisket sandwich or even just the half lb of brisket my gf got...
Read moreThis was my first time at a mission BBQ, and let me say that it was the best first impression I have ever had. Our visit occured in the middle of lunch rush on a weekday, and we ordered together in a group of three, and this is how it went; There was less than a 1 minute wait to order (I ordered pulled chicken with slaw), followed by a 2 1/2 minute wait for our order to be served up. It was ready so fast we barely had time to get our drinks from the fountains! Speaking of the drinks, I choose their "Summertime Lemonaide". lemonaide is tough to get right, usually, I dislike most places lemonaids. Now, I'm not talkng about "Country Time" or "Minute maid", I like to try places that have their own variant, its one of my gauges of quality and his lemonaide was quality! It was great and I had 2 1/2 cups by the end of my visit! The pulled chicken was outstanding, never before have I had pulled chicken as tender and moist as this, even my own slow cooked chicken couldent compair! They had a delecious selection of 6 sauces at every table you could add to your meats that all brought the dish to a whole new level of mouth pleasure. The slaw was fresh, crunchy and not over sauced or soup like. This place is five full well earned stars!!! We will visit here again and again and if you have not been...
