Vinyl attachment strap on my Donjoy knee brace cracked & broke rather than go through channels just walked into Express Shoe Repair and asked gentleman at counter what he thought might be done to restore the strap -- he immediately assured me he could sew leather replacement strap in place for @$10 and that's just what he did, quickly and well. // Strap is finely stitched & reinforced, will probably outlive the frame it holds in place = better than original good enough to consider him replacing all straps on 2-pair out-of-pocket rather than putz around w/ OEM. // Shoe repair shops are generally independent & owner-operated by people who really understand how to work with & preserve leather, can solve all kinds of vexing problems for us ~ very happy to find such a solid shop so close to home. // Shop is tightly tucked into Channel Island frontage across from NE corner of Navy Base [just west of Ventura]. Currb parking in front and ample lot behind building but no rear entrance. // Service is excellent & at least bi-lingual, craft work is smart & very nicely done, and price is very reasonable = 3 Stars +.

I brought in two pairs of Birkenstocks to be resoled. I’ve worn these sandals almost daily for about 6 years. One of them already had the cork exposed, but Alvaro did great work in fixing up both sandals. He resoled, cleaned the straps and put sealant on areas where the cork was dry and splitting. I’m so glad I’ve added maybe a couple years or so more to the life of these sandals and not having to break in new ones. I picked them up in about 3 days.
