DONT COME TO THIS PLACE! Total rip off! My daughter lives in the area (I was visiting frm L.A) and she came to my hotel room to bring me breakfast and say good bye to me as I was checking out and going back home. She happen to bring her dog with her and we were all visiting inside the room when a very rude Hispanic woman frm the front desk came in to “inspect” for any damages etc in order to give us our $150 deposit back. Well as soon as she saw my daughters dog she immediately said that there was no pets allowed and we told her that my daughter just came to bring us breakfast she and her dog had only been there not even 5min and were leaving. The rude lady’s attitude instantly changed! She started walking around the room said that it smelt like dog (but my daughters dog is an indoor dog very clean short hair and doesn’t smell at all in fact the dog is very pampered and spoiled) and just was looking for any excuse to keep our deposit. I asked her how does the room smell like dog when the dog has only been here 5 min? Really? If anything it smelled like food! Then she left and said she’ll be back to do a more thorough inspection after everyone is out of the room. When she came back she said that one of the comforters on the bed was dirty and she assumes it was frm the dog again, not true we stayed in that room 3 days 2 nights swimming eating going in and out that’s normal. We argued with her abt that she refused to listen or talk with us instead she walked away rolled her eyes at us and said we were not getting our deposit back. My husband was upset I was upset because her attitude was so unprofessional she was being ridiculous with her claims of “dog smell” and there were absolutely no damages or anything used or missing frm the room. She simply just wanted to keep the deposit! As we’re walking out of the room my husband kind of slammed the door and the woman turned around and yelled at my husband, “You want me to call the police!” And I’m standing there and said, “For what? For shutting the door? Why would you waste the police’s time for that? That’s ridiculous lady” she turned to me and said “Yes! For that and also because your husband pushed me!” OMG! I can’t believe that this woman lied like that! I was standing there the whole time! Not once did my husband physically touch her! Then she says, “ And You will be put on our Do Not Return list! So have a good day!” And walked away. Now, I am ready to go all the way with this lady and this hotel establishment legally. I’m contacting a lawyer right away. I would’ve easily given up my deposit IF there was a legit reason(s). But because of her attitude, her unprofessionalism and flat out rudeness, I will pursue this issue until it...
Read moreMy first encounter was with Nancy, the Manager. We discussed the property and she emphasized the “new” rather “new renovations” going on and I discovered during our discussion that it was a Choice Hotel and I shared with Nancy right away that I was a Choice Privilege member as we discussed the best available rates of the competition in that area — she quoted $170 per night and I asked to see one of the rooms — the exterior of the building appears very old — so without hesitation she showed me Room 122 —-perhaps Room 122 had been recently newly renovated — I reminded her I was a Choice Privilege member and asked for a better rate — so Nancy went to her computer— and told me my discount would be — as a Choice Privileged member — 10% — I ask for her consideration and a lower better rate : Senior AAA or Government— she hesitated— and as I was walking away — suddenly she says to me “”Let me see what I can do “” and she lands on $139 per night— at that point I was exhausted from a long day at work — I booked it for 3 nights — Later that night I logged into the Choice Hotel website and the rate was $125 for Choice members so I called the Customer Relations and they would not and could not help — Nancy refused to take my calls and avoided any conversations with me about the rates — I called Customer Relations again and they finally intervened on my behalf and called Nancy— again the rates on the Choice website dropped to $118 I let the Fancy Miss Nancy know —then in the meantime I discovered the “newly renovated “ refrigerator was not working and all the food I purchased and stored over the 48 hours in the broken newly renovated refrigerator was spoiled — had spoiled — I asked Nancy who had booked the Room 122 before me — and she rudely shrugged my question off — Nancy inspected the refrigerator and it was hot — Nancy said dropped the room rate for the last night to $75 — I have disputed the room rate and the condition of the room with my credit card company —Further Nancy insulted my intelligence by comparing the room rates to buying a t-shirt from Macy’s — Nancy needs intensive training in customer service— along with hotel management training — not to mention an attitude adjustment— and thorough Diversity training—related to race —- and especially age—she is very disrespectful —after she verbally threatened to throw me off the property and put me out of the room —apparently she embarrassed herself— along with my broken newly renovated refrigerator complaint she found the intelligent and reasonable side of herself and offered me a decent rate — whatever the case may be — I will continue to dispute the charges by any means available to me — to include a civil action...
Read moreVery enjoyable stay. I would definitely return.
When you pull in, you’ll be daunted by boarded up rooms & make shift office. But their still under renovation and half done.
Spacious, remodeled, pristinely clean room. Easily sleeps 3 comfortably. Includes mini fridge, safe, coffee maker, fan, blackout curtains. No microwave though.
Everyone will say the floors are dirty. Here’s the thing. There’s no carpet, so do yourself a favor and plan to stay Japanese style. Bring a pair of house slippers or non slip footies and take off your street shoes at the door. Especially if you go to the beach. The floors track dirt easily so just be mindful of your own steps.
We were miffed they said online they provide complimentary breakfast, but because of renovations on their kitchen, that’s not the case. They didn’t offer anything back for it either. They could at least give a $10 voucher to McDonald’s across the street or something…
On site is a pool, jacuzzi, a really nice home gym with the basic essentials & water purifier. There’s also tennis courts which surprised me, but we had no need.
Very good walkability to local stores, strip malls & convenience. About a 15 min walk to the shoreline too.
Right beside train tracks but it didn’t run when we staid. Not the greatest view from the balcony: ditch/empty water runway beneath the tracks.
Overall: Despite the less than stellar comments, I still say a great stay for the price because I loved the spacious, solid, quiet rooms, cleanliness, and access to the gym & pool with...
