After having nick’s shop have the car for over 4 months and spending over 9000 dollars I can say the only positive experience I had was with Dave and his son who are both two of the mechanics who work at the shop and are very kind and understanding. I brought in my 1990 c4 corvette for a overhaul as I already knew it needed a lot of work and after seeing good reviews I thought I would give this shop a try, this shop overcharged and charged me 4500 dollars initially for STARTING AT SQUARE 1 which included COMPRESSION CHECK, CHECK GAUGES,FIX TIRES AND COMPLETE 360 OF VEHICLE - CHECK AC. That alone should be a tell tale sign to anyone considering taking your vehicle here that they try to bleed you dry before they even work on the car…. Not only this but after there apparent 360 check of the vehicle not a single one of them saw or made me aware of my ac compressor bracket being broken with jb welds and not fully bolted in. They didn’t even mention this until I picked the car up which at that point nick the owner said a new bracket system would run me 2000 additional dollars which is disgustingly overpriced, and I later replaced my self by finding the exact bracket needed for only 125 dollars….. at all stages of them working on my car they never brought this issue with the ac compressor bracket up making me believe they did not do a thorough 360 check on the car when initially brought in and just pocketed my 4500 dollars for very minimal evaluation of my car. Next they charged me 2500 dollars for new headers and exhaust which they said and promised would have the car running and being mechanically sound which was a lie and just another way to make more money off of me as they overcharged for the headers and exhaust parts they used. Once done with the headers and exhaust they then said that the car was running to hot and they recommend switching to a carburetor set up to eliminate the need for all the electronics and go analog. I hesitantly agreed as they assured me this would be the last thing to have the car mechanically sound which later would turn out to be a lie. After then dishing out a additional 2000 dollars for the carburetor set up and installation which was again completely overpriced they then said the car was ready to be picked up at which time I drove and got the car and this is where everything turned from terrible to a nightmare. Upon my arrival Nick the owner was in my car with it running and told me to hop in the passenger seat so he could take me for a spin in my own car….. after spending 9000 dollars on these “repairs and work” Nick proceeded to do a hot lap In my own car with me in it, beating on it pedal to the floor and shifting a automatic car with the gear selector of the transmission which I had never done…. He was driving it like we were on a race track Driving it harder than I had ever done myself As I very much, just viewed this car as a weekend cruise around town vehicle. This is a 35 year old corvette it’s not a brand new muscle car but he treated it as such and beat on the brakes and accelerated hard well past the legal speed limit on public roads with me in the car. After being so disgusted and disappointed with how he had just beat on my car. I drove the car home and parked it later that evening my wife and I decided to go for a evening cruise in the vehicle at which time the belt completly popped off, at which time my mechanic friend who live near me and wife brought to my attention that the belt was very old and should have been replaced as well as the issue with the ac compressor bracket that he saw within a minute of looking under the hood. At which time I called Dave the mechanic and he put on a new belt for me. Nick lost a future customer for the terrible service he provided to my car from the overcharging of parts and services done to the joyride he took me in my own car when I picked it up. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP AS THEY WILL NOT FULLY INSPECT YOUR CAR LIKE THEY SAY AND WILL OVERCHARGE YOU ON PARTS AND REPAIRS AND...
Read moreI took my 1972 Corvette in for almost a complete overhaul. Looks are VERY deceiving, soooo many things wrong and incomplete after 16 months. Too many to list, it's almost not worth the aggravation with someone who once told me if I didn't like the rate of progress that I could take it elsewhere for completion. The engine backfires severely and it was over heating, which they evidently weren't aware of because they couldn't put the right connector on the temperature ascending unit, I had to remove the thermostat just to get it to cool down to 210°. ALL vacuum hoses were not connected and just stuffed up and out of site. AC completely disconnected. T-top weatherstripping fell off. No horn. Windshield wipers inoperable, windshield wiper door opening mechanism bound up and inoperable, including no vacuum lines connected, not even a connection to the manifold, no check valve or filter and tee valve to operate headlights and wipers. Old cracked air filter. Paint under the wheel well flares still show the previous color, as do the bumper mount brackets. All new parts provided not used lost or returned. Assembly manual provided with 32 years of maintenance records lost. I could go on, but it's not worth it. He'll just put a spin on this and blame me for rushing him, or blaming the painter and engine builder for taking too long, when he's the one that should have been pushing for their completion. Nick was a good friend and my past fire department commander. I had full respect for him. I won't mention how much I was there for him when he was in the hospital and crying in my arms being afraid of his upcoming surgery. Now I'm in NY with no recourse and am completing the work myself after purchasing an assembly manual, an electrical manual, a vacuum troubleshooting manual with diagrams, and not to mention purchasing the missing, previously provided parts all over again. I have it all torn apart and will have these issues isloted and corrected in due time. Lots and lots of time. Believe you me, posting this hurts me, but I'm totally disappointed. He'll promise and promise you things to be done in a timely fashion, but, at least in my situation, he kept pushing it off until I was relocating and then he rushed it, still prolonging it right up to the last minute. He had 16 months and completed many other cars while mine just sat in the corner. I will add that the interior work is beautiful and...
Read moreI met Nick through Facebook and he saved me from making a bad purchase on a 1970 Mustang Mach 1. He messaged me to call him (at 9:30 at night) and he was a wealth of information regarding finding the right car. Things I would have never thought of to check. He even offered to look at any cars I was interested in close to him in Daytona. After a few more weeks of searching, I found the right Mach 1 and with Nick’s approval I made the purchase and decided to ship it directly to his shop from Iowa. It was a sight unseen purchase. Nick checked over the car and we made a list of things to focus on for the restoration. Again he provided valuable insight into the much needed repairs. Nick is a very trustworthy guy and definitely tells it as it is. The budget grew throughout the project, as expected with classic cars, but Nick was always letting me know what was going on and what it would cost for another issue that might pop up once we got into things. He is very busy with his shop so I appreciate him taking the time to do a special restoration like this. Since my project, it seems he has taken on more restoration projects and increased his shop size and staff, which is awesome. I wish him the best of luck. Thanks again Nick! I really appreciate the time and effort you put...
