I have never had any issues at any home goods store before however last month I went in to return a tea kettle that I bought 4-5 days ago. I used it once and didn’t enjoy it. I brought it to return or exchange for a different kettle. “Schondel’’ was at the customer service counter. I told her the truth that I had used it once and wanted to see if it can be returned or exchanged for a different kettle and I would understand if that’s not possible. She looked at the kettle and said aloud that she does not think it has been used only once. I said I have the receipt and I did only use it once. She obviously did not believe me and called someone else and said it very rudely to my face that she does not think the receipt matches the kettle and she does Not want to do it.the other person was kind enough to check and the receipt obviously matched and he made the return for me. I have never experienced such horrible treatment before, the disrespect and obvious prejudice was very visible. She could have easily said no and I would not have had any issues. Read moreMy wife and I have shopped at HomeGoods a handful of times and, while we haven't always found exactly what we were looking for, we really enjoy perusing the store. They have a relatively wide variety of things for your home so it's definitely worth a look if you're in the market for such things. It is becoming a staple for us. Don't quote me on this but I think most of what they sell is overstock from other stores, perhaps a bit like TJ MAXX (but a better shopping experience). Since that is true they sell a somewhat eclectic mix of things at times (at least in my opinion) but it's a "cool" eclectic mix. Lots of interesting things. On this occasion I was there by myself looking for a Valentine's Day gift for my wife. Just didn't want to go the flowers or candy route. I ended up purchasing a 24 oz. aromatherapy candle and some white tea (both a hit with her) for around twenty dollars. Very reasonable to me. Anyway, I'm sure we will visit them again soon and would encourage you to give them a...
Read moreFirst of all let me say I really like this store! I have spent a lot of money in the local Portage Mi. store. Never returned an item, always have had great customer service. My wife & I have also purchased several items from them on-line. ( we have a small retail store ) This is a fantastic place to shop for great deals. However, just recently I purchased several candles ( 12 ) in order to qualify for free shipping.. all 12 arrived shattered. We had sharp glass every where. All 12 candles were laid on their sides with bubble wrap laid on the top?? This was set up for failure from the start! We threw them all away in the herby curby. The customer service rep demanded several pictures so that she could claim a credit from FedEx in order to give me my cash back. WOW... This was in no way the fault of FedEx!! Now I'm out 12 candles and $120.00 and HomeGoods made a nice little profit! What's wrong with...
