Extremely overpriced for an extremely mediocre experience.
I don’t normally write reviews, but I can’t let others visit this restaurant knowing this was our first experience. My boyfriend and I decided to check the place out with a craving for seafood. Upon arrival and getting our table, the server seemed annoyed. He ordered a tall beer but received a short (luckily we were not charged for a tall). We decided to get the shrimp cocktail, expecting pretty decent size shrimp for a whopping $9 for 6 shrimp. Nope, instead we received very tiny shrimp that were extremely overpriced.
Disappointing, but we held out hope for our meals. We both ordered their Signature Boil, but neither of us wanted the sausage. My boyfriend’s meal was charged as is ($31) even though he didn't even get the sausage. I wanted mussels as a substitute for the sausage and was told they don’t do substitutes for their boils. That’s fine, so I ordered everything in the Signature Boil minus the sausage and added the mussels. Well, my dish arrived with sausage and they charged us the price of the Signature Boil along with $9 extra for the mussels when I didn’t order this boil, only the separate seafood entities since they don’t do substitutes and I wanted mussels, not sausage.
Aside from the mixup — if you even want to call it that — the flavor of the seafood itself is bland but covered up by their extremely salted butter and seasoning. I’ve been to many different restaurants that serve seafood, and I can say that this is my worst experience as far as flavor goes. I also found some weird grey stuff and stringy things in my food, which made me stop eating. The portions of the food are small for the price they charge.
Additionally, the two potatoes we received were not cut up (did not provide any knives to cut them ourselves). The shrimp in our meals still had the complete shell on… and it was an up-charge for them to remove the top part of the shell, not even the tails. Our shrimp cocktail appetizer did not have full shells on. I don’t understand why it was a $2-$3 up-charge to remove shells from the shrimp on our main course when everything is thrown into a bag and steamed anyway. I have never had any restaurant up-charge to remove just the top shell of shrimp. I don’t have a problem removing tails but this seems like such a waste of money to even pay for that shell removal “service”.
Regardless of our flavor and service opinions, the actual pricing for each product is astronomical. Canadian snow crab legs cost $10 per 1/2 lb. This restaurant charged $17 per 1/2 lb. Now, I understand they must make a profit but $17? Just to steam/boil them? Not only that, but parts of my crab were COLD! A 12oz bag of shrimp (~45 pieces of shrimp) costs $6. Do you think those same shrimp that were boiled for a few minutes and put in ice really need to cost $9 for 6 pieces?
As someone who both owns and runs a business as well as has parents who do the same, it’s ridiculous. I’m so disappointed in the whole experience. Not to mention that the place was practically dead inside at 6pm on a Saturday. Please don’t go here until they either lower their prices or increase the...
Read moreI have always wanted to give this place a try especially the items that’s offered in their menu. So I went and tried it today and honestly had the most terrible service. When the host ask a server if she was taking my table she stated I haven’t had a table in a while and been mopping. So the host sat us down and waited 5 minutes for someone to serve us. During that five minutes I can hear the manager talk to a couple servers on who was taking the table. It seems to be an issue to be able serve a table in general which was confusing since they didn’t close till 10pm and after 8:30pm. When the server arrived he was very rude and was trying to rush us to order. When I asked Iglesias I think that was his name proceed to ask what drinks we would like. So I had a ask for a water and pop and the server only gave me a pop with no straws. So when I asked him again he didn’t say anything? Which didn’t make sense of what you would treat your customers then way. But then he proceed to ask what we would like to order and will bring straws after. Then when it was my turn he was okay next like we’re in a busy line at race track. So then he had left and then seen him walking around doing nonchalant things and didn’t bring us straws. Therefore, because of the terrible service before seating down and getting terrible when being helped to order food we decided to never come here because how they treat their customers. I would not recommend...
Read moreMy daughter and I went here because we both love seafood in pretty much all forms. We wanted a variety and decided to give this place a try. The selection is pretty good. There are special selections made of popular combinations that save a few bucks, or you can build your own seafood boil. The prices like most seafood places these days are pretty high but you don't go to a seafood place looking for a bargain. You go looking for flavor. Thankfully this place has plenty of that. You can choose many different sauces to go with the seafood boil and mild, hot, hotter for spice level. My daughter got something that had Juicy in the name, and mine was something Cajun sounding and had sausage as one of the ingredients. I accidentally ordered extra mussels and I'm really glad I did. The one I had comes with black mussels and I was going to sub New Zealand mussels but accidentally added. Both were amazing so I'm really glad I goofed! Everything was excellent tasting. Definitely worth going again regardless of price. The decor inside leaves a bit to be desired though. Cheap and cheesy sea type decorations. I think you could get better stuff from the dollar store. Good thing the food was good and the waitress was excellent. The food makes the decor easy to overlook. All in all, we're very glad we went and will most certainly be...
