I used to own a business nearby and was bullied by the owner of this shop. This happened a few years ago, and even though a lot of time has passed I think it's important to still hold people accountable for their behavior. It is difficult enough to run a small business, but to also experience harassment from a fellow small business owner is truly terrible. This woman lectured me about "retail etiquette" while I was buying something from her shop. She also told me that I couldn't sell plants. I believe she felt threatened because I had plants in my shop (most were not for sale) and felt the need to dictate to me what I could do with my own business. When I would see her I'd say hello and she often gave me dirty looks. One day she decided that I was locking the trash cans which were shared by the tenants in the building. I was not locking them, I believe it was the landlord, and I remember telling her this. She kept harassing me about it, and I kept saying no. This continued for many months. She even sent over employees to bother me about these trash cans. This was annoying but not a big deal until she came in one night, flinging the door open in a panic and started yelling at me about the locked trash cans. She then opened and slammed my door shut very hard. This was done repeatedly at least three times in a row. This was truly terrifying. She was throwing a tantrum in the middle of my shop because I gave her an answer she didn't like. She finally left and I was frozen in disbelief. I regret not calling the police at the time. Unfortunately the city of Portland has normalized this type of behavior and I had gotten used to bizarre and dangerous things happening around me. I remember seeing her walk by the next day like nothing even happened. I also want to acknowledge that she acted hostile towards me when no one else was around, this is telling. This woman was not kind to me, and she made the choice to harass and disrespect me on a regular basis. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, and I didn't deserve to be treated this way.
Update: Hi Amy, I am not misinterpreting anything that happened between us. I am not interested in talking to you in person. Let this be a lesson learned. You should conduct yourself better, always treat others with respect, and stop bullying other women. Your response is a great example of how a bully will try to gaslight their victim into believing they are "misinterpreting" what happened. That type of manipulation doesn't work on me. I hope you can actually become the kind person that you so desperately want others to...
Read moreI was looking for a workshop to do during the day and came across this place. I called and they said I can drop in anytime until close so I could build a terrarium. When I arrived, Jen greeted me and talked to me about what I’m lookin for and what kind of plant would be best for my habitat. She helped me get started and spent so much time with me explaining every step of the way. Once I got the plant grounded, I was free to design my terrarium. There is so much inspiration in the store, and Jen is a good person to ask for advice. I did the “build your own” option which was the 6in round terrarium for $40. There were TONS of materials included, you wouldn’t need to pay anymore than that. But if you did want to buy something you also get an $8 credit towards something. I was actually there for a while and the experience was so peaceful and fun. I definitely recommend if youre looking for something to do while in Portland, or if you’re local, that will be dangerous (they have a bunch of plants, pretty pots, and the best advice). If you want to drop in like I did, just call ahead to make sure there isn’t a workshop going on. Also plan on spending at least an hour, I did not think I would be there for so long, but you really get into it, and rushing won’t be cool. They were very accommodating and I will try the perfume workshop next! Great place for gifts and one of a...
Read moreWe organized a corporate event with Amy - the whole process was amazing. I reached out about two months before our event looking for quotes and information, Amy provided all of the information upfront and then followed back up with me after I was able to present to our committee. Much much appreciated! We ended up ordering 35 kits, with all different designs. She even called to let me know they were ready early!
We could not have been more excited and happy to have this opportunity to work with Artemisia! We organized a local pick up and we’re able to get the (absolutely adorable) kits to all of our teammates across Oregon.
On the day of our event - Amy was patient and kind walking our teams through the process to build and customize each terrarium. She gave us a background and history of terrariums. The whole event was just perfect. We had some small hiccups in the beginning with our one of our teams not being able to connect to the zoom call successful. She didn’t get frustrated or impatient with us.
I cannot recommend this shop more. We will definitely look to do more events with Amy & Artemisia!
Thank you for making our Spirit Event...
