Outstanding neighborhood bookstore with well curated inventory, lots of classic modern lit titles -- nice Hemingway, Steinbeck sections for example -- and a patient and friendly staff. Fair prices too. If you want to avoid Powell's and have a sort of small town experience, you can't go wrong here.
PS: I went to Powell's the next day and scoured the shelves and came away empty for the 1st time ever. It may be related to their book-buying hiatus but Chaparral FAR SURPASSED Powell's in quality.
