Ok let me start with I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!
Now let's get into it. My family and I were down in this area to get some pictures taken. The photographer suggested we come here on a break. We did.... I saw the reviews were pretty good so I was excited. I love elephants, the owners must as well.. so things will be good bahaha
It's a modest-ish place. Three levels... the deli on level one, wine bar and restrooms on level two, and a room on level three that I never saw. There is an elevator AND there is designated parking behind the location.
If I had a group of gals in town, I would definitely use this as a brunch spot every weekend... the drinks looked good. Bloody Mary, Mimosa, and another cocktail... full bar...
The cookie, breadstick, baguette self serve bar was awesome and I dont even like carbs... holy frijoles... here is where they won me over and the reason I will be back! They make fresh cheese bread twists...I got one thinking I'm hungry... y'all ...it was gone before I got to the register!!! So I had to tell on myself and buy another for later. Freaking yummy if you like dough and cheese... well worth the $2.50.
I also got a side of egg, a side of sausage gravy and a side of bacon! Eggs were fine... they're just eggs. Sausage gravy was pretty darn good. Pretty nice portion. Great flavor with a good amount of sausage.
The bacon... ok well bacon is the way to my heart and this bacon didn't disappoint. Ours was cooked crispy and well... just like I prefer. It's funny how I will pay $4.50 for three pieces of bacon out when I can get a whole pound for less. But that's simply a reality.
Family got two two egg breakfasts and they were fine. Prices are reasonable for portland.
I saw they have fondue so I will be back because their bread is awesome.
Caved and got a butterscotch oatmeal cookie that certainly doesn't disappoint. Good flavor...a bit high in price for a cookie but whatever.
I love the selection of self serve options. Sandwiches were like $6-9 ish... they have options people...
You gotta give it a try. I wasn't...
Read moreI loved this place soooo much!!! This is where healthy meets yummy!!! Fairly priced for the quality of food. So if you can’t afford to eat here that doesn’t make it ok to leave them a bad review based on that. They are also trying to make a living, while providing quality food, well worth it!!! It is like going out to eat and not leaving a tip; if you can’t afford to go out to eat, than save your money. This is an upscale brunch spot, but I believe it’s still fairly priced. There is so much to grab and explore around while you wait for your food. No, staff are no babysitters and this is a Mercado style lunch spot, that’s what makes it fun, it is like exploring a little market in Europe. So get there and grab your table, and explore the mercado, don’t wait around for someone to direct you; people on some of the reviews here just sound so entitled, you are not a child, you can figured it out, right?! 😒
They also have to go cocktails! We were there pretty early so didn’t get to try them, but the ingredients for the to go drinks look awesome, I hope to be back on an evening. Our tuna sandwich melts was delicious!! Our Chai tea Yummy and warm for this autumn morning and the pastries we grabbed were the best!!! Too bad there isn’t a place like this in Seattle, but will for sure make a stop at Elephants on Corbett whenever I am back! We just left and I am already craving it!! 🥰
2 Tuna Melts 1 side of broccolini 1 small butternut squash soup 2 cookies 1 16oz Chai Tea Soy Latte Total: $33 What!?! I mean that’s an amazing price for delicious and healthy! (Add your tip to that of course!)
Thank you!...
Read moreBeen coming here for years, first name basis with many of the staff (they’re great, and not the reason for negative feedback!). New renovation means at least two touch points for hot food. No signage to communicate where to go first, and a complete break from old processes. I’m not scared of change, but if I have to go to one counter to get a ticket to take to another counter to pay, when both have a POS system and can take my money just as easily as the other counter I’m gonna get riled up.
Turns out, even the bartender can’t put a hot food order in even if you’re already siting there enjoying a beverage.
Customer experience = 0/5 as a result.
Even the staff acknowledge that they are frustrated they can’t give customers the experience they’re accustomed to (and frankly, even the old experience left much to be desired… lots of gaps were covered by staff that took initiative for regulars).
Elephants management needs a long sit down and think about their customer service model if they don’t want to lose customers and tarnish their reputation.
Average food and above average prices have historically been the expected at Elephants, and with this new system adding friction to the sales process I’m gonna be way more likely to sacrifice the convenience for a better experience, better prices, and better...
