My wife and I were invited to Bamboo Grove to celebrate a friend's birthday party last Saturday night, and despite Hawaiian cuisine being among my least favorites, I thoroughly enjoyed the Chop Steak I ordered, subbing out the ubiquitous macaroni side for a bleu cheese salad instead. In fact, I would go as far as to say the Chop Steak was the best Hawaiian dish I've had at any such establishment. I would absolutely order it again!

My wife opted for the kalua pork, with some musubi to start that, unfortunately, kept falling apart in our hands, despite our best attempts to keep them together. Still tasty, but a little hard to handle and keep intact. Between the two of us, we also enjoyed the Hawaiian Iced Tea and a Black Tai to wash everything down.

Service was prompt and attentive, which is impressive considering it was just one woman (one of the owners, I believe) holding down our massive table of ~12, plus all the other tables in the back room with us. Orders arrived promptly, accurately, and most important: deliciously, and without incident, for every member of our large party, which is far less common than it should be. And no one seemed to mind when our curious, adventurous toddler began wandering around, exploring the entire restaurant, smiling and babbling away!

Interior aesthetic is charming: they've certainly made an effort to give it that Big Island feel, which is a nice touch. All in all, we were quite impressed with everything Bamboo Grove had to offer, and I could easily see us returning in the future, the next time my wife and I feel the need to reminisce about our time in Hawaii, since this is about as close as you can get to enjoying the cuisine of the 50th state without actually...

Bamboo Grove: The KINGS of screwing up your orders.

I have never seen a place mistake each and every order I’ve ever placed with them, until I started placing with Bamboo Grove. Genuinely simple instructions fly right out the window with these people. They scream incompetence, or they simply do not care.

It cost me an eye-watering 42 dollars for a large combo platter and a spam musubi - for that price, you should expect some level of care in their service, but no - they forgot my spam, and doubled the mac salad when on the receipt I asked for NO mac salad because I am lactose intolerant- this is the sixth order of theirs that I’ve received, and I kid you not, only one order has actually ever been 100% correct - otherwise I’m given the wrong size, or given nothing at all, or they mess it up in some other miraculous way.

The wait and distance and cost to receive this food is pain enough, but the fact that after an hour of waiting for the delivery to arrive, it ends up being entirely wrong, is utterly frustrating.

Wrong orders happen from time to time, and I have patience with restaurants when this happens, but what patience should I have for a business that has gotten it wrong 5 out of 6 times?? This is not some “accident” this is their behavior, this is their work ethic, or lack thereof.

Zero stars. - I’d give them much higher if they could get it together - I have never been this frustrated with an...

I've been to Bamboo Grove's main SW location many times and have had nothing but positive experiences. The food is amazing, the people are friendly, and we're always excited to return. I have zero complaints about the restaurant.

Tonight, however, we made the mistake of stopping by their SE food cart location. We ordered two entrees and two sides with no special requests or substitutions. I should have realized something was off when putting in our order seemed complicated, but actually getting our food was so disappointing. With busy traffic nearby and everyone rightfully wearing masks, we were mistakenly handed an order that was not ours. No big deal, but then getting our actual order was a lecture in listening and an apparent admission in having no record of what we actually ordered. We ended up with only two of our items and our bag was dropped into a puddle of water on their serving deck. I am still in disbelief as to how needlessly rude and condescending this experience was for no reason.

I'm not sure how these two locations can be so complete opposites of each other, but I'm never returning to the food cart and I'm not sure if I want to return to the otherwise amazing...

We met here with out of town friends on April 30, 2024; three of us are from Hawaiʻi, so it was the perfect place to meet. The food was wonderful! I had the guava chicken, which was broke da mouth, and my friend had the teriyaki ahi, which she said was perfect and was so happy that all of their shoyu is gluten free. Hubby had the Sweet & Sour Veggie Stir Fry, which he really liked. We were so busy talking that I forget what my other friend had! He pronounced it delicious. The mac salad was fantastic! Our server was outstanding! (I wish I knew his name.) He made sure we were well taken care of, was friendly and helpful, and made us feel extremely welcome. Highest praise to him; he's a real asset to the restaurant. We were there for two hours, and had so much to catch up on, but our server never rushed us. He took photos for us at our request, and did a great job with that, too. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Everything about our time there was terrific!

Came for lunch, and my daughters birthday, also wanted to donate some $$ for Maui recovery as I know the owner is from the Lahaina area. Wasn't crowded at all, outdoor seating is available, but we chose to eat in. The staff was friendly, and efficient, and the food was done right. The room was decorated as you'd expect a Hawaiian establishment to be (colorful, Tikis, and surf boards). I had a small combo plate with Guava Teriyaki Chicken, and Kalua Pork, Rice and Mac Salad, my wife had the Veggie Pan Grill with Shoyu Chicken, rice, and green salad. Large portions, we had to take some home. The only constructive criticism I have is that my daughter wanted a burger for her birthday, and what she got was a patty and a bun, no condiments, but she's 5, and didn't seem to mind. And, hopefully they'll bring desserts back sometime soon. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience.
