Knob and Tube abatement work
I have a 1907 home that needed the KnT removed for insurance purposes. I'm somewhat handy myself and could have done some of it but it was a big job and most of the remaining KnT was difficult to access - wires running between 2 floors to service downstairs lights and upstairs floor plugs. For this kind of work you need not only a knowledgeable electrician, but someone skilled in dealing with remodel work and older homes to minimize the wall patching needed after a job of this kind.
These guys were recommended to me by an electrician friend of mine and they were everything I could have hoped for.
I had thought about this job a lot before engaging anyone and knew the issues pretty well - everyone I dealt with really know their job. They understood and could answer every question I had.
Levi the estimator was knowledgeable, professional, thorough, and ACCURATE.
Cameron the installer was great. On time, great communicator, very skilled. We talked a lot and he was personable and could answer every question I threw at him. He was very considerate - I saw him take hours extra making difficult-to-fish routes inside the walls where it would have been much easier and faster to cut more holes in my walls.
Another testament to their reputation - when the inspector came I was walking him through all the work that was done and I commented on how quickly he was progressing and he said he knew these guys and they do excellent work.
Based on my experiences, the owners obviously treat their people well here.

Read moreWest side really came through on my kitchen remodel. When the job was initially bid, what we knew was that my range and dishwasher were moving, so the electrical had to move and that my range hood was wired incorrectly and needed a dedicated run. I had soffits running the perimeter of my kitchen which I planned to take down. Taking down the soffits presented a surprise in that a bunch of wiring for the kitchen and adjacent rooms was running through them. Of course this increased the scope of work and the duration of the job for one person. To keep me on my schedule, West side sent 2 journeymen (1 full day, 1 half day) and 1 apprentice (full day) to knock all the electrical cleanup out in one day and ensure everything was done to code.
My only complaint, and this is minor is that I would have appreciated if the estimator had suggested when he was on site and we discussed that soffits were coming out to cut into them and scope out the wiring situation. I would have knocked sheet rock open on the spot, then we would have had a better idea of the true work much further in advance. Not every home owner would be willing to do this, but I would have been.
Overall, the work was done well, on time, and they did a reasonably good job cleaning up afterward. The team was prompt and I knew when they were showing up, they told me they would knock it out in about 6 hours and it ended up being like 6.25 hours. They definitely knew what...
Read moreWestside Electric is the contractor who PGE specified to install a ChargePoint L2 charger which also required a new breaker box. Westside sent a quote the day after I submitted the application to PGE. We agreed on a date that was not hot outside, so we did not have to go without A/C. Very flexible to weather changes.
Jason and Tristan arrived shortly after 8:30 and got right to work. They were easy to work with, use top of the line equipment like Square D boxes and breakers, and finished up around 3:30 pm. Installation required a little drywall work which was done very neatly. Jason identified the circuit clearly, transferred previous permit work, and created new labels for other parts of the electrical system they had to work with. I liked that they could work and explain things at the same time - very efficient.
Scheduling the inspection was super easy with Linda. Install was Thursday and inspection was Monday. Inspector spent 5 - 10 minutes looking at everything, was glad Jason and Tristan had confirmed proper bonding of the furnace and water heater, and approved project within 45 minutes after he left.
Before leaving Jason made sure I had the correct app and setting for ChargePoint and we tested to make sure it functioned correctly.
Could not ask for a...
