East Side Deli - Commissary Kitchen & Delivery Hub — Restaurant in Portland

I used to live in Portland and ate at the Hawthorne location several times and loved it. Service was always fine, nothing to note really. Yesterday I was passing through and ordered online from the Commissary location but my order never went through. When I arrived the owner happened to be the one to help me. He got them making my sandwich immediately while we tried to get the order to go through the system. They have no other way to do a transaction at this location. When my food was ready and we hadn't yet succeeded he gave me my sandwich free. I went to my car to eat and tried restarting my phone and ordering again, successfully. If the Ninja Turtles ate anything other than pizza, they would eat East Side Deli sandwiches (specifically the Italian). I believe this with my absolute whole heart. East Side is the type of sandwich shop you dream about... it's what every other shop in town wishes they could be. Having a bad day? Get a sandwich. Hungover after yet another failed Hinge date? Get a sandwich, add a chocolate chip cookie and a Mexican Coke. The Staff is unmatched, friendly and thoughtful and I'm pretty sure you can actually taste the love...

This location is fairly good.

Tasty sandwiches and hot dogs in a short amount of time. Much better than the poorly managed N Portland location.

The seating area is cramped when multiple people order, and it's not a very inviting space. I'm not a big fan of their kiosk-only, to-go style of ordering. Their restaurants were once nice places to visit, socialize, and have lunch. The walls were decorated with talented local artistry.
