we ordered the lawless platter - their house sausage is gonna be a bit coarser grind than most would expect but it is superb and was my favorite part of the platter. good snap, great texture, the seasoning, the blend, and the grind is masterfully done. All in all their in-house sausage making game is DIALED IN. Get an extra order! *or dont, because it is a massive CHONKER
smoked turkey breast was tender, the alabama white sauce provided great complimentary flavor and additional moisture to a rather lean piece of meat. really good and it absolutely begs to be consumed as a sandwich
sides - potato salad was great, just the right amount of toppings and bacon bits provided the necessary texture contrast I found a massive chunk of ham(I think) in the bbq beans, so big that it seemed out of place for the serving cup it came in, fantastic nonetheless you have to pay $2 extra for the brisket chili which I think is superfluous because this is where the scraps usually go anyway I digress, the beans were cooked perfectly and chili is well seasoned however I didnt think the cheese needed to be invited to the party
pickles and onions were seriously amazing as well but the serving size felt like a joke. I think it was 5 micro pickles and 6 small slices of onions for the entire platter, please keep in mind it is advertised to be "good for 2-3 people"
both of the complimentary sauces were good, consistency/viscosity is excellent, KC sweet sauce has a nice gloss/shine to it which I appreciated in conclusion, the sides are very well thought-out, some bbq spots are just places that sell smoked meats that happen to also sell sides as an afterthought and I can objectively say lawless bbq is not one of those establishments
pork ribs came with just the right level of tenderness one should look for a piece of ribs, also really good just the perfect amount of mopping, not doused in sauce which is commendable.
brisket - oh boy here we go. where do i start, where shall i begin? no this is not the direction you thought this was gonna go, I am literally stalling here. you should stop reading this and go try this place now. bye ugh, ok, anyway, since you stuck around, i thought you should know, the brisket, was, a let down. when one thinks "i want to get some bbq" all roads lead to brisket(or so I think), so when I took my first bite I just assumed I got a bad cut. brisket was tender, although a touch dry--er than what one would expect a good brisket to be but this can easily be overlooked by the fact we got this for delivery. however the flavor is just not there. I didnt appreciate any smoke rings or just smoke flavor in general. the bark was forgettable As much as I want to give this 5 stars, I just cant. brisket IS synonymous with bbq and because of that this place ends up with a really, really really good 4 stars for everything else. Again, I would still recommend this place, I love the idea that there is someone SLANGIN' some good food quietly tucked in a busy Division street working towards mastering their craft. maybe I did infact just got a bad cut. or maybe their brisket is just that, whatever, but if you are bringing bbq nerds maybe dont hype up the brisket too much.
bread - its bread, its white, theres...
Read moreFirst time going and OMG WORTH IT. We got the Lawless Platter with sausage, ribs (that quite literally fell off the bone), brisket (melted in your mouth), and turkey slices; came with a side of cheesy grits and greens. I also got the burnt ends plate with a side of bbq baked beans. Our server suggested mixing the beans with the greens and grits and it was phenomenal! Sometimes, the sides can be lackluster in a BBQ place if they put more effort into the meats but both meat and sides were equally great.
With the flight of beers, which got the seal of approval from my partner, and canned soda drinks, it all came to $93 for two people, really not bad for all the food we got. The digital menu and ordering service was very easy to use and super convenient if we wanted to add anything else on. Very laid back atmosphere, and our server was super nice; our food did not take long at all. I'm pretty sure we were only waiting for about 10-15 minutes from the time we placed our order to when we got our main meal. The only thing I would suggest is either using Uber/Lyft or taking public transit there as parking is a bit of a nightmare in the area.
Absolutely will go here again with a...
Read moreSaw it on the map...happened to be driving by today with sis'. We're from Texas, and good bbq is hard to find up there PNW. Since there were no subs on the platter we ordered by the lb. The sauces are tangy and good, along with the little helping of pickled veggies.
Burnt ends were delicious and slightly more moist than the sliced brisket, which we still devoured, (worth the extra but if $ conscious the brisket will more than suffice).
Then we moved on to the spare ribs and sausage. The ribs were damn delicious, pull apart, and superbly flavored. I suggest you clean the bone in between fits of meat Tourettes.
The sausage is of a slightly different variety that we're used to, but it was surprisingly amazing, perfectly spiced, just enough to cause a small bead of sweat, but not overbearing...and the best of the bunch. We ate two links in silence.
The lady behind the counter was funny, friendly, and entertaining, sharing similar stories about the love affair with Texas BBQ.
The portions are good and the price fair. Will be back.
