RANCID FOOD
My mother in law lives in Post Falls and bought us their truffles for Christmas one year and they were absolutely amazing! We were so excited to come visit the shop and buy some goodies!
This year when we visited, mid August we bought about $80 worth of truffles, syrup, and jam to bring back as gifts for friends here in Colorado. We were planning to give them as a holiday Christmas gifts, so we grabbed truffles with expiration stickers of 7/2022, and we checked the other expiry dates as well. We also bought a few small bags to bring home for ourselves because they are so so good. When we got home from our trip we immediately stored the truffles in our cool, dark pantry, with our baking chocolates, m&ms, and marshmallows.
In September (a few weeks later) I opened up our bags of truffles to share as a treat with our kiddos and they were all COMPLETELY RANCID. They tasted absolutely awful. They had an expiry date of 1/2022!
I thought there was no way the big bags of truffles we bought would be rancid too since they’re supposed to be good until 7 months from now, so today, while getting gifts ready for friends I thought I’d better try them to be sure. Nope, they are ALL RANCID TOO!
We also bought syrup, and I figured after all that we bought was rancid, I’d better check them too. They are not rancid, but their syrup does not taste ANYTHING like huckleberries. We picked wild huckleberries this summer and made syrup for our pancakes and this stuff they are selling does not taste like Huckleberries. The ingredients on the label doesn’t even say they use huckleberries. I bought these things to share a unique part of northern Idaho with our friends. I’m not even going to gift these either, they are going in the trash.
They deserve 1 star because we literally paid for either rancid food or food that says huckleberry but doesn’t taste like it. I’d consider giving them an extra star because we did buy some jam and our kids loved that. And because their staff is lovely.
It’s a shame, the employees are so sweet and, although pricey, their gifts are great and we would have come back every year for gifts to bring home. Not after this though. A complete...
Read moreIf I could rate this place zero stars I would but that would be doing a disservice to the EMPLOYEES here. The employees work extremely hard, I've noticed over the course of the last 6 months there are only 3 women that work here full time. It seems other employees are harder to keep. Perhaps the reason is the OWNER. I know for a fact the owner lies about ingredients, whether it be amounts of huckleberry in her products or the fact that there is any huckleberry at all. A lot of the products are cut with mixtures of other berries or blueberries. I get it, huckleberry is a little bit pricier. But it's concerning when you consider some customers might have food allergies or sensitivities? The coffee here is mostly Kirkland brand, the rest is huckleberry coffee. On top of it all, the owner had those same 3 employees working the first blizzard in January, and the heater was BROKEN!!! How could any good owner make their employees work in 30 degrees with no heat????? I would never support this owner. Please...
Read moreInterviewed for driving jobs with them and interviewed. Recieved a call about 2 weeks later and wanted to hire me so I pursued job. They asked me to drive to montanna with owner for deliveries and I did so. Left at 4:30 am and back at 8:30pm. A 16 hour drive of deliveries. 2 hours of getting home Marla the owner asked if I thought I was too old for the job? I thought what? If I were too old I wouldn't have accepted the job! When back she said see ya Monday but I need talk to my son because I feel you may be too old for the job? Take in mind she is probably at least 6 years older then me. Was called next morning to be told sorry but we won't be hiring you after I was hired? Age discrimination is illegal and to be told it was my age was something I have never exspierimented in my life! I will pursue in the courts as being used as help for 16 hours and let go? Kind of think this may have been the plan to...
