4-stars, not so much for the bar as the crowd. Being an ex- bar manager, the bar itself needs some TLC to bring it up to par, to give it comfort and character: maybe a jukebox, a wider selection of beverages, and a decent back bar for the bartenders to work from. The patrons, however, need no more character. Yes, the atmosphere seems fairly indifferent, but polite (a Southern thing?), with gentle, non-probing questions intermixed with drawn out tales relating to your experiences/answers to their questions, "I was there once, and...". But behind the sceens... They are comparing notes... And then, should you return, they begin plotting.... And then, like totally out of nowhere, they're suddenly busting your balls, and it's pretty much coming from all directions-- yes, that kindly 80 year old calm and quiet grandmotherly type who's nursing a Budweiser across to bar suddenly proclaims "Well, we typically don't like people from xxx down here, but in your case we might make an exception... ...or we might not..."
