I had a TV installed to the tune of $12,000+ It’s a Seura TV (looks like a mirror when the TV isn’t on) and they came out to my home to see the space to see if it was appropriate. They thought it would look great. It was installed and it looks beautiful. Except- you actually cannot watch it turning the day at all because of the glare. Literally, you can’t see the image, unless you stand to the side. We didn’t complain because we have many other TVs in the home and we don’t watch much tv on that room during the day.
Fast forward to three years later, the picture stopped working. I called to ask them to come out to see what was wrong. I was informed that the HDMI port on the back of the tv wasn’t working. They told me there was an alternative port on the back of the TV they could use, but would need to have another guy come out at a later date since the tv was so heavy. No discussion of cost (as I assumed it would be covered under warranty).
They came out a week or so later, and it wasn’t a simple fix. They had to run a whole new hdmi cable (which doesn’t make sense- why wouldn’t they just reuse the one)? They were there for two hours and then they left.
Three weeks later, they send me in the mail a bill for $900.00. A week later they email asking where the money was. I replied, that I was disappointed and was not aware that they were charging me anything.
They then called me a week later (Pete calls me) and instead of apologizing, he lectures me for 29 minutes telling me what the issue was. I was well aware of what the issue was. I wasn’t, however, aware that they were going to bill me, and I would have assumed that they would have installed a proper HDMI cable to begin with. He tried to tell me that the port on the back of the Tv was bad. If that’s the case, why run a new cable? I told him I was annoyed that there was no mention of a bill and again, instead of apologizing, I just got a lecture as if I don’t understand how businesses work and that I was incompetent.
Next time I have audio/video needs- I’ll check out the competition as it’s very...
Read moreMy experience with Main Line Sound and Video has been terrific. We moved into our current home early this year and had several audio/video firms visit the house to provide thoughts on upgrading our existing whole house audio system and integrating a new TV. Justin’s guidance and perspective was head and shoulders above the rest. He listened to our needs and helped me think through the best design through several iterations over a number of weeks. He was sensitive to our budget, always presenting several options with different price points, and he was clear on pros and cons of each option. I was very pleased he steered me to a whole house solution that leveraged much of the existing sound system, adding only components necessary to enable streaming of music. This approach was cost-effective and works great! When we finalized the design, Justin visited the house a second time to ensure we were aligned and coordinated, and to plan the installation. The installation was very smooth and professional. We had a few small start-up issues, and Justin was fast and efficient to address. Everything looks and works exactly as envisioned. I have reached out to Justin with questions a few times in the months since, and he is always fast to respond and helpful. Once again, I recommend Main Line Sound and Video with complete enthusiasm. They are knowledgeable, professional, and...
Read moreEdited: Really appreciate Pete responding to my voicemail asking for his help getting a TV off the wall as well as to reset the TV and deal with bad apps. He talked me through every step of the process even though it was very lengthy! These guys really do try their best to be helpful to their customers even years later and intercede when problems arise and that's a very rare thing. Thanks again Pete!
So far have been a little bit disappointed by the way the various systems our family has had installed have worked. The complicated forms of installation consistently make troubleshooting without them difficult, if not outright impossible, even for small matters like unplugging a TV mounted far too closely to a wall with no pivot. We've also had issues with a speaker system feeding back into other parts of the house so loudly guests could not sleep, or buzzing constantly, when there was no way to unplug or check the mounted speakers. If you're the type to reset your system or check a YouTube video before shelling out hundreds for each tech visit, or just don't want to be completely dependent on a system set up so complicatedly that you have to rely on a tech to do any simple thing, consider whether they're taking that...
