To Whom it May Concern at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital of Rahway NJ, I had a Horrific event at this Facility. A delay that was truly uncalled for. But everyone else we dealt with was very Professional & Caring. First, prior to 9/27/23 via phone calls, Lovely Keysha I believe for co pay, very informative & polite Lauren from I believe PAT who went out of her way with information. Then Lovely Lucy from anesthesia dept who truly put me at ease. They Helped answer all my questions & listened to all my concerns. Now those who took Wonderful Care of me on 9/27/23 was in SDU: Lovely and professional team, Renee RN who did my H&P, Komal RN, Shefali Medical Assistant, Cissy Nurses Assistant, Judy RN BSN (discharge RN) and Jagit Support aid/ Housekeeping. The wonderful Kind Anesthesiologist Dr William Tronolone & most skillful Radiologist Dr Nathan Chris, esp the two Radiology RNs, Rose & Maureen. Whom I spoke with prior to coming in for pre op instructions. Your TLC was amazing! The PACU team was outstanding, Esp Marlene and Myrda. The Rushing & Stress created from the delay & hold up due to Admission/ Registration Department, the Registra, Danael or Daney who misread the information in the computer that I was Authorized the day before & at 6 am, then at 8:30 am I was not. Over 2 1/2 hr delay, we were Pacified they were working on it! They never called my insurance. I needed NO Authorization was needed for a Surgical Biopsy! This refusal was for a MRI of the Pelvis back in August! The need for proper training for this Register is truly required. I am so annoyed that they had the Audacity to say to my face they took care of it after I took care of it for them. 1 1/2 hrs I spoke, was on hold many times with my insurance company & conference calls included. All they did was fixed it in the computer system! Thanks to Professional Registra, Nancy who carefully listening to my complaints & sending us to Admissions. This 2 1/2 hr plus time wasted created a Domino Affect that lead to a Stressful Havoc of everyone rushing around doing everything STAT! Now I did have the surgical procedure. My arm still hurts a bit from my IV but this is expected, under the circumstances they had little time to change the site. The pain from this before, during, & after my Procedure actually took my mind off the procedure itself. I had to be awake due to prone position I had to be in for this deep core biopsy. Dr Tronolone meds did kept me still for the procedure & the painful local anesthetic. Now My Husband, Gary Sullivan (CEO of AWE)was treated kindly & with respect. The SDU & other Staff asking him if he needed anything, etc., was outstanding! Good customer service! Which left Gary a wonderful feeling about this hospital at the end. He speaks highly over the care we received after admitted. I will hesitate for referring anyone here & for my next visit due to the Admission/Registration Dept! Not for the wonderful care once I was admitted. I will provide any information so this delay never happens again! I hope my next visit goes more smoothly. I will make myself available for meeting any of you personally to resolve this issue or talk over the phone. A little about me, I was chosen & attended classes to become one of the Customer Service Ambassador at WS Campus of Trinitas RMC Hospital in Elizabeth NJ. I worked as a a RN in many areas including Orthopedic, Med/Surg, Gyn & became Clinical Coordinator of Minor Surgery/Chemo Clinic/ Endoscopy & then PAT for many years. Had 39 yrs of service plus 7 yrs of Volunteer work since 1973. I was awarded several awards including a Distinguished Humanitarian Award & Daisy Awards. So when a Pat on the back is needed. Please include these staff mentioned above. My physician, the most intelligent, skillful Dr David Wexler who saved my life, my husbands & my brothers, chose your Facility, to perform this Biopsy due to your skillful Radiologist & Team in Radiology, PACU & SDU. Thank you for your time & Most Sincerely Yours, Rosemary Danko RN, BSN

Words cannot express how incredibly grateful I am to have gone to this hospital. I went there on a Friday evening and from the second I got there the staff was very attentive and professional. The nurses were amazing and very understanding and very supportive of my medical needs. I was very nervous and anxious about what needed to be done to resolve my medical issue. The nurses helped calm my nerves and eased my anxiety immensely. Dr. Sara Haile was my surgeon and she was phenomenal. Prior to, during and after my surgery she was amazing in not only meeting with me and discussing what was going to happen to myself my wife and my family, but she also listened to our questions and concerns and took the time to understand what my thoughts were. When my surgery ended up being moved to Monday instead of Sunday, due to the busy OR schedule, Dr. Haile even took the time to meet with me in my hospital room (which was around 9pm at night) after she had finished doing other people's surgeries and was apologetic about not being able to operate on me on Sunday. Her lines of communication were very open in making sure she spoke with my wife and family after the surgery. Now for the staff on 3E. They were nothing short of guardian angels. I want to thank all of the nurses and nursing assistants for taking care of me during my stay. They were friendly, professional, kind, understanding, and took the time to listen to any concerns I had about how I was feeling and any questions or concerns my wife and family had. I never would have anticipated that 5 days ago I would've ended up in the hospital. Being new to the area my wife and I weren't sure where to go for addressing my medical needs. I'm beyond thankful that we picked this hospital. Thank you everyone there for taking care of me during my difficult time. I would definitely come back to this hospital again should I need extensive medical care. I give this hospital Five Stars!!!!

I would love to tell everyone about my experience at RWJ RAHWAY, SAME DAY SURGERY CENTER on 05/09/2025. From the moment I stepped into the lobby and till the moment I was wheeled out of the hospital, I was introduced to smiles, laughter, compassion and professionalism. Not once did I feel nervous about the procedure I was about to have. EVERYONE kept you engaged in great conversation along with positive notes regarding my stay and what would happen leading up to and and where I would wind up at the end of my procedure. RWJ RAHWAY SAME DAY SURGERY CENTER along with the patient's that are taken care of, are extremely lucky to have all there. I can't stop talking to friends, neighbors and coworkers about the tremendous treatment I experienced. I am grateful TO ALL. I am also grateful that my doctor had made the choice to be affiliated with this hospital. I have attached a copy of a card that was signed by all I came in contact with through out my day. I'm sure there were others that I didn't meet and would like to thank them as well. God bless to all that give it their ALL to make people feel great while going through their issues. All included on this card should be rewarded for going WAY beyond their RESPONSIBILITIES.

UPDATE Below is the original review. The update is that my father died while under their care August 23, 2023. RWJ Hospital in Rahway needs to be investigated and shut down. The place is absolutely pathetic. About two months ago my father was admitted for trouble breathing, testing showed he had pneumonia. He was pumped up with antibiotics. Random doctors would walk in, do the toe touch just so they can extort money from the insurance company. He kicked out a doctor because she could answer the simple question of "who are you and who do you represent". Her asnwer was "I'm a doctor". This is the same doctor that wanted to remove him from his oxygen, which he explained if she did he would DIE. A day or so before he was to be discharged he started to feel ill, they did tests and found he had caught an alphabet soup bacterial infection. He got more sick while in the hospital!!! They pumped him up with an aggressive antibiotic cocktail. Sent him on his way. About a month later, July 25th he was back in the ER with...... pneumonia!!!! There was talk that they may have discharged him while still having it. They put him on a round of antibiotics, did a blood transfusion and sent him to the 4th floor without seeing if the transfusion worked. Aug 2 they did a chest xray to see if he still had pneumonia, it took almost a week of him asking for the results, finding out he still has a touch of it. Yesterday Aug 13 I recieved a call from a nurse stating he's back in the ER, only to find out he has the bird flu and Sepsis!!!!!! 2 days after he got a roommate. Once again getting more sick. He is currently sedated and intubated.

The nurses are absolutely useless, during the last stint and this one he asked for a longer oxygen tube to so he could utilize the restroom. After waiting for quite a while he shit himself. They ignored his request for a longer hose. There was no apology from the nursing staff. They all act like it's an inconvenience for them to do their jobs. I see the nurses all huddled in the corner where there are no cameras or all huddled at the nurses station. We all see RWJ nurses are on strike, prove to us all why you feel you're entitled to better pay because honestly you don't deserve a damn thing.

Maintenance is incompetent, both rooms he's been in during this stay have had issues with the air conditioning. Either they didn't work or blowing room temperature air. When he was transferred to the 4th floor it turned out the room wasn't ready, no bedding and the room wasn't cleaned. He had no privacy curtain other than the one that divides the 2 beds. The phone port was broken as well as the bed.

The kitchen staff is inept. Every day the last 3 weeks they have screwed up every meal. Either shorting him what he ordered or giving him the wrong order. Example, he ordered an omelet with all the fixings, 2 slices of toast and an orange juice. Only to receive scrambled eggs, a half a slice of toast and cranberry juice. Ordered tomato soup and received half of a cup of marinara sauce. Or ordering a Ceasar salad, recieving a cheeseburger. The week before he passed he ended up ordering out from a local pizzeria and had it delivered.

The negative reviews for the hospital...

If youre looking for pain relief do not go here. I went in for a severe ear infection. I dont know where to start.... When i walked in security was rude with an attitude!!! Then the registration couldnt get my concerns in order. She brisk walked to the bed and room she took off without me. I had to find her!!! the dr. Or the nurses couldnt find me bc they had me in the wrong room. Literally!!! A nurse went into a room was saying my name and my concerns to a totally different patient!!!!! (What are the wristbands for?)The patient adv. "Thats not my name nor what im here for" the nurse went into the hall and said "oh wheres melissa ward" i dont know who assigns what room numbers to patients but they had it all wrong. The dr. Said we have you down for a different room number!!!!! I went in for an ear infection. My pain is tremendous!!! They send me home with ear drops and alot of pain. After they make me sign release papers a nurse asked to hear my story one more time. I explained it to her and she repeats a total different concern of my jaw!????? Asking if i been to the dentist.... I then cut her off in conversation and asked about what meds im being sent home with. The nurse advised me i have ear drop but shouldnt take percoset 5mg and antibiotics(that i rec from a different doctor on weds) bc its not good to mix meds.... I then looked at her an kindly asked "what else am i suppose to do" AND SHE HAD NO ANSWER she looked at me in silence!!!! I THEN WALKED OUT!!!!! IF THE DROPS DO NOT WORK I WILL BE CONTACTING PATIENT ADVOCATE my visit was on 7-11 @11am!!! I went into the e.r looking for answers and pain relief. I have a ear infection so bad i cannot close my jaw and chew i have swelling and pain. I asked the dr. If it was an outter ear infection or inner ear infection. He adv me theres only one part of youre ear and then theres a wall?! I asked for a scan to see how bad the infection was and he adv i didnt need one and i will be fine. Not looking forward to another sleepless night. ALL THESE SCARY REVIEWS WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO IMPROVE ALL OF THIS!!!!!!!??????? DOESNT SEEM LIKE ANY IMPROVEMENT. OUR REVIEWS ARENT FOR SHOW!!! PEOPLE ARE HIGHLY CPNCERNED ABOUT THE LOW GRADE CARE THEYRE RECIEVE OR SHOULD I SAY NO CARE AT ALL. I SEE ALOT OF REVIEWS PEOPLE HAD TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION ELSE WHERE. EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE. RAHWAY HOSPITAL SHOULD BE EVALUTED...
