This week we tried Plum Tomato Pizzeria & Restaurant in Rahway, NJ. What did we order? A Margarita pie, of course. (Yes, we are still looking for those amazing Margarita pies in NJ!) We ordered other items as well but if you've been following us it's all about the Margarita. We went with a large version and we were very impressed with the large pie when we opened the box. The fresh mozz was spaced apart nicely to reveal the sauce (impressive!) it was definitely made with a food processor; grinding down the tomatoes to make a nice sauce overall; natural ingredients that complimented the fresh basil and fresh mozzarella. Why only three stars? The crust. I have to say, we were very disappointed with it. It did not have a fresh taste; very dry. The best part of this pie was the sauce which really saved it. We almost wonder if the pie was a thin crust and crispy would that do it? Because we ordered a larger version this may have played a part in creating a thicker drier crust? Basically, try the smaller version if you order their Margarita. We also ordered their mixed salad (fresh!) and an Italian sub (pretty good) The interesting part...their bread was fantastic. Until...
Read moreLiterally the worst chef salad I have ever had. No boiled eggs, no croutons, full of black olives and onions that over power the entire salad. The only thing I enjoyed about it was the cucumbers and grape tomatoes. Maybe you guys need to google the recipe for an actual chef salad? Furthermore, your menu advertises ingredients that weren’t even included.
The penne vodka pasta was good except I had to add my own salt, black pepper, and a little seasoning.
You also get the thinnest slice of New York Cheesecake for $4 and some change.
Lived in the area for two years and something in my gut told me not to try this place. I was desperate and wanted something new so I gave it a chance. I regret it horribly as these three items came to $36. Never again will I step foot in your establishment. I’ll rather just go to Brooklyn Pizza right around the corner. You’re only getting two stars because I did in fact eat enough of it...
Read moreI went to get veg pizza slices as I like to have pizza slices often and keep trying different stores. This time I ended up going to Plum Tomato but it was 30 minutes before closure like around 9:30 Pm and it gets closed by 10:00PM .
I was told that they take last order by 9:45Pm and I ended up taking 2 pizza slices. It looked delicious but when I tried one slice was chewy and not soft. Its sides are very hard so it felt like I should not have taken this slice and not worth with amount paid tastewise.
Another slice was soft , which was veg slices, and better than previous one. However, taste was just fine comparative to other stores.
I would give store 3 stars based on its taste of slices. It was my first time here, I would try again next time and if it find it better , I would update my comments. Ambience was clean and good sitting...
