Good Selection, nice people, however you will wait in line for 30 minutes without fail, even if you are 2nd in line in an empty store due to the fact TJ is enthusiastic to a fault, where he can talk to a customer about his favorite orc without noticing the 5 people in line with thousands of dollars of stuff. At this point It's a joke between my friend, to the point that I send him 25 minute long videos of me standing in line with 2 people in front of me while I'm holding nearly $500 worth of merch, because no one would believe me if I just said "i waited for 30 minutes to check out when there were 3 people in line". then when you check out you will be upsold into buying 40 paints.
Every review is correct. He is one of the best advocates for the brand, incredibly knowledgeable, nice, etc. But there needs to be someone else to run the register and check people out. Or at least continue to check people out while you talk to someone for 25 minutes.
Honestly, TJ should be promoted so he doesn't have to run the register, he should be in a corporate role involving community. But i know that would require hiring someone else or at least hiring 2 people.
It's sad that i finally live near a games workshop and i despise going into it and left after 15 minutes in a line of 4 people that last and final time i went. Maybe at some point i'll post the vids from 3 or so...
Read moreAs a Games Workshop fan, I was excited that as store was opening. From an availability standpoint, the store is fantastic. They have the full range or products and offer free shipping to the store from anything available online. The store is a bit undersized, but if you have ever been in a GW store, you will not be surprised. They have three dedicated gaming tables and a painting area with four stools. Overall it is a great place to get your GW fix. The only negative is the current manager is very sales oriented (GW managers get bonuses for reaching certain goals). He is very quick to mention a new something, or have you heard of this promotion. For someone who wants to just go in and buy a few paints or just talk with fellow GW fans, it can get old when this is the spiel you get every time you go in.
Edited 10/2/15- I was perhaps over reactive at the change of managers and the shift in styles. The current manager TJ is a passionate hobbyist who enjoys talking with fellow GW fans about what they are working on and ideas that he has to add to a current project. He runs great promotions and frequently has free pizza days when the store meets its sales goals. I am not afraid to say when I missed the mark and my initial impression of TJ did. If you are a GW fan, this is a great place to spend...
Read moreTJ is the only person running the store and as such sometimes the schedule can change but this is never a huge issue for me. I went in for the first time about a month ago looking for a close match to a paint color needed for my Fiancé's Gundam kit. We found TJ's personality quite intoxicating in the sense that you can spend hours there just chatting with him and barely feel like time has passed because he is so knowledgeable and passionate about this hobby, and most similar hobbies honestly. I love that you can call ahead and reserve one of the four work benches to build or paint and that he even has campaigns where you can use one of the three in store tables/boards to play against lots of other local players or just come in with a few friends and do that any random day. Always helpful and he tries to save everyone money as I was about to spend 3x what I needed to my first day trying to piece together what I wanted when two kits got me the same things plus shiny extras! I shall continue to come back to this particular GW store so long as it...
