Do NOTā¦I Repeat DO NOT join this gym and ABSOLUTELY DO NOT get talked into signing up for personal training. It is a joke! This company has the worst management! I signed up with this gym through my health insurance company benefit & was informed I had to complete a 1 hour introductory meeting with a staff member. Side noteā¦With my insurance company benefit I am able to join multiple gyms and in fact joined another local gym at the same time and did not have to do an introductory meting at that gym. I had the 1 hour meeting app & it ended up being a sales pitch for personal training sessions. I was interested in the personal training program & asked numerous times prior to signing the contract if they had personal trainers after 6 PM because I work 10 hour days & am not a morning person. I was told yes there were numerous trainers that would be able to accommodate my request of evening training sessions. In addition to the training sessions, nutrition was also supposed to be discussed as well as monthly weigh ins & measurements. I signed the contract & before leaving that day I asked if I could schedule my training sessions & was told that someone would reach out to me. In fact after a week I had to reach back out to the training manager to let him know nobody had contacted me. I was finally contacted and was offered training sessions in the middle of the day. When I explained that that was not possible due to my work schedule, I was quickly told well I canāt help you. Iāll have to figure out who can. Another trainer reached out & established a schedule for two evenings a week. (This trainer would frequently cancel my training sessions with very little notice). About 1 1/2 months in the trainer abruptly left & I was without a trainer. a couple of weeks later A new trainer reached out & he only worked two days a week therefore I had no choice with my schedule. About a month in to seeing this trainer he also abruptly left. A few weeks go by & no one from this gym, including the personal training manager or the GM reached out to me as a paying customer to let me know any updates about a new trainer or to have the personal training manager complete my training sessions. I went in person to the gym and requested to speak to the GM and asked for a refund. I was told that a new trainer was starting in a couple of weeks and to give them another try and I agreed. About two weeks later, a new trainer called me on the phone and we scheduled a visit for the following week. When I arrived at the gym for my scheduled appointment with a new trainer, I was told by the manager that the trainer never started. Again, no one from this Gym contacted me to let me know there was no trainer for the session. Again at this time I requested a refund and to cancel the remaining portion of my contract due to the business not rendering services as agreed upon. Greg (the manager) told me how to submit a request online - which I did. This in fact was only to the payment processing company. I contacted Greg numerous times throughout this process with very little resolve. The personal training manager at Raleigh called me one day and said ā i understand youāre not happy.ā I said āyou are correct. I am not happy.ā His response was ā OKā & that was end of the conversation. I asked Greg on numerous occasions to provide me with the number for the personal training manager of the entire company or have him call me & that did not happen either. I was told they would put my payment on hold until they got a new trainer, but that I also was Only using their gym for the training sessions and I should ātake better care of myself.ā I politely told him I was a member of another gym as well so that had nothing to do with the issue of them not providing services i am paying for & requested a Refund yet again.
I am disputing the charges with my credit card company & received an email stating i had a balance due & to please pay my balance.
Hopefully This long winded review will get the attention...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSynopsis: Truly an amazing gym with plenty of equipment, amazing staff members, good vibes, and great members.
Originally reached out to Mike, the general manager, about getting a membership at the Raleigh location. He responded quickly inviting me to come by and check the place out and from the first experience I was sold. The folks at the front desk are always welcoming and the gym is kept clean no matter the time of day.
Staff Speaking of staff, this gym has some of the best staff members I have met at any gym. The trainers are knowledgeable and willing to answer questions or give advice and although I have not worked with their trainers, seem to be quite versed in training and tailoring it to the needs of their client. Mike, the general manager, is also an awesome guy. He runs the gym with integrity and can often be seen interacting with and helping his members.
Equipment The place is equipped that's for sure. There is plenty of cardio equipment from treadmills to bikes, ellipticals, Stairmasters and everything in-between. There is a huge wall of dumbbells going up to 120s with plenty of doubles. I never seem to have to wait for any sort of dumbbell. There are also machines galore. I absolutely never have to wait for a machine during my training blocks. There is a turf stretch good for sled work, lunges, stretching, or anything you need to do on it. A slew of full sized squat racks, a smith machine, two benches, an incline and decline bench each, and a full cable cage with two seated rows and two lat pull downs to cap off this slew of equipment available. Even at peak times you should be able to find something to do while waiting for a particular piece of equipment you may need.
Pricing I can't speak about the pricing as I joined the gym through Tivity Health, but from what I gather from others, it is reasonable and comparable to that of other local gyms.
Overall This place is good for everyone and everything from weight loss to working out casually to those training intensely--this place has something for you. The members are also amazing. I got to know quite a few guys quickly and never feel bashful or worried about asking for a spot or having a conversation with anyone here. Fit4Life Raleigh has become my primary training location and makes for a great spot to work on any goal.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a member for 1 year. I will say I love the gym and the staff. I give 1 star for predatory practices. Be warned. If you sign up for personal training they make it very difficult to stop. I have 11 months left in my membership and then I will never return to this gym. It is very unfortunate because I really like the gym but I can't do business with people who follow the same guide lines as loan sharks and cartoon mafia.
EDIT - After some thought my previous remarks were made from an emotional response to finding out the training was done through a 3rd party. I was upset because this was not disclosed to me. I do not regret getting the training. I went to the gym for training. This is by far the best gym in the N. Raleigh area. I don't understand the need to use Peak Payment. Just look them up. Why would you want to associate with them? Why would allow them to tarnish your product? Does the money they steal really make it worth it? Without them this would be a 5 star gym. I will stick with this gym because they are the best I just won't have a personal trainer. Which is a big draw back because I need a trainer. And to the response below, I will be looking to speak with you at the gym. I would love to understand why.
Review of the gym itself without training: This gym is super clean. It can get busy with a wide age range. But not to the point where I couldn't find an alternative station. The gym culture at Fit4Life is very welcoming. There are no gimmicks here because it doesn't need them. The people here are there to better themselves. The staff is very helpful and the equipment is maintained. It is open 24hrs a day which is very convenient and I like being able to take advantage of a 5am walk on the treadmill. Bottom line, join this gym, just avoid signing up...
