Current student, and wishing I had just waited a year for the program at Wake Tech. I loved the idea of going here so much because they offer both day and night time classes, as well as online classes. When I spoke with people who work there they seemed all positive and happy and reassuring.
HOWEVER. After I started going here, it was only a few weeks that I realized the teachers and students and most of the staff hated being there. I felt betrayed and lied to. And the classes were not at all what I was led to believe. If the teachers hate it there, and MOST of the students, I would take that as a sign.
When it came time for my "externship", within a 10 week course, I did not get a "site" until 5 weeks into said course. The school said by week 1 I should have a site for my "externship" however it was not until half way through the class did I get one. So unlike most people, I had 5 weeks to complete 200 hours vs. the 10 weeks that was promised. The teacher quit, and left her mess up to someone else to clean up and it screwed all of us over. Every time I asked for my site, the original teacher would give me the run around of "you should receive a call this week for an interview from XYZ Healthcare" or whatever it was that week. IF YOU EVER HEAR THIS FROM MMC, do not fall for it. If a week goes by, go above your teacher's head. It is what I did and by that time we got it figured out at week 5 instead of week 1. Not to mention, my graduation date got pushed back. I cannot stress this enough.
This school makes you feel like you have choices, but when it comes down to it, you do not. They make you feel like you'll get an externship site for where you want, but in turn that does not happen and you get placed wherever they put you. And some of those places don't even let you do what you're required to do while on extern. ALL I did for my Medical Assisting externship was take vitals and bring patients back to ask them about why they are seeing the doctor today. So when it comes time for my review, I will not get a good grade as I have not been able to actually DO what they expect.
SAVE YOUR MONEY. Since starting this school a year ago, I can honestly say I don't see how it will be standing in another year or two. Only 3 of the original teachers are still there from when I started. The teachers say you can reach out to them and they'll be there to help, but when they answer your call (after having multiple phone calls) they don't even know who you are.
Some of the staff are really nice, some of them are just good at making you feel like they are doing something, and then you have some staff who blatantly do not answer you or are petty and will write you up because you're wearing blue scrubs instead of black (ex from a current student other than me).
This school and my time here was supposed to be exciting. I understand stress with any schooling, but this went above and beyond ridiculous. I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT waste your time or your money. WAIT for the program at Wake Tech or somewhere else to have more room. You'll have a much better experience. I too thought, "oh well she probably just had a bad experience with something" when reading these reviews. But no, it has been one thing after the next with this school.
And I PROBABLY should have waited to write my review until I graduated, but once I graduate I'll be happy to update my review if the problems ever get resolved. Until then, happy school hunting and may the odds ever be...
Read moreI had thought about going back to school in 2015 for Veterinarian Technician.I earned my associates in Medical Office Admin. in 2011, but I really look forward to expanding my career.Going to school full time and working full time, while also raising my son, was not easy, but I managed just fine. I filled out a form to learn more information about their program. Needless to say, my experience on the phone with the particular gentleman that called me was not the greatest. He came across as very arrogant. He asked me how my work schedule was and when I told him, he was quick to inform me that Miller-Motte only had day classes for this particular program. He told me that I needed to figure out how I would manage the program and work. This was all after I had told him that I had managed to earn a degree while maintaining a full time job. His whole tone, just really bugged me, he seemed bored with our conversation, although he was the one that called me. He wanted to know if my supervisor would be okay with me leaving work to attend class. Really? He then wanted me to come in to tour the facility. Which I was aware of, because the tour is the next step according to their website. To be honest though, by that time, I was totally turned off by doing any tour with this school. This gentleman had me wanting to hang up the phone in his face. Back to the tour issue, he asked if I would be willing to come in for a tour. I did say yes, and he wanted me to come in two days later. Honestly? I just told this guy, I had a full time job...don't you think it would be common courtesy to inform my supervisor in a timely fashion. Why the rush for a tour? I had told this guy, that I wasn't even looking to actually apply until NEXT year. He then told me he would give me a call, the day of my tour to touch base. He never called and I never showed up. I will be looking elsewhere to obtain my education. Thanks, Miller-Motte,...
Read moreWhen a place has more one stars than 5 stars that says a lot! Do not go to this school, it will be a waste of time and definitely money. Go to Alamance Community College instead. The teachers at Miller-Motte are a joke, they're more concerned with gossip than teaching. Went here after being in the military, which means as a veteran, the G.I. Bill pays for my schooling in full! Graduated from here with no balance because the military paid for everything! TWO YEARS AFTER I GRADUATED, I get a letter in the mail from Miller-Motte saying that I have a balance that just showed up this year, which is weird since I've graduated over two years ago. I called them to see where this new balance came from and they cannot even tell me why I have the balance nor what it is for. I call the collection company, and they tell me they see many cases like this from this school but they will check into it. A month later, this balance is on my credit! Clearly Miller-Motte is just trying to get money out of me because I'm a veteran! How do I owe money when the military paid for EVERYTHING! MILLER-MOTTE IS A SCAM!!! DO NOT FALL FOR IT! None of the classes you take here will transfer! I had to take the same classes over again at Wake Tech. Save your...
