My boyfriend and I have been trying to see "They Shall not Grow Old" for a while, but we both have super busy schedules. After a busy Monday evening 3/4/19 we decided to go for it and go watch TSNGO at 9:50. The film isn't showing in many places so Six Forks Cinema was our closest option (about 20min drive) we arrived around 9:30. We know that when a film is showing that late you purchase your tickets at the concession, there was a young blonde girl there. We went to open the door and she squinted her face Renee Zellweger style and mouthed "sorry we are closed." All of the films they are showing have a late time and there was definitely people there since there was a good 2 handful of cars in the lot. It was extremely frustrating for us and lazy on the theater staff's part. My request is that if your emplyees can't do their mindless job and stay late then you shouldnt market films for 9, 9:30, or 9:50 showing. Additionally, I tried to call to speak to a manager, no one a answered. This cinema gets a negative -5 star rating for failing at the most basic level of customer service. I will continue to try and get in touch with a manager but for now I had to write a review to warn anyone else that may take our path and end up as...
Read moreThis is my favorite little theater. It is older but the seats are very comfortable. The lobby is small but well-equipped and the serving people are very attentive to you rather than, with so many other theaters, attentive to each other. The theater is arranged in a circle with the lobby entering into each of the theaters I think there are four or five of them. What I like best is the sound is never too high or too low and, because I am handicapped, I am thrilled to tell you that the seats are not really close together from front to back and there are no stairs. This theater is arranged, like a lot of the older theaters were, on a slant so the person in front of you is not in the way and you don't have to try and navigate stairs. I am retired. I can go to the movies anytime I want. So I get matinee price. However, on Tuesday they have $5 movies all day and into the night plus you get a small popcorn and a small soda. They have all of the latest movies and sometimes they are the only place that has a certain movie that I want to see. So I guess they are competing with the big time 10 15 20 screen theaters. But I like this one because it's cozy, reasonably priced, and...
Read moreI'm not sure what all the reviews talking about the affordable tickets are referring to'; their tickets are only $1 less than the Raleigh Grande down the road, which is a much nicer place to see a movie. (Super-comfy reclining seats, recently renovated, broad draft beer selection.)
This place (which still has the classic gently-sloped floors) has a funky, musty, smell, a run-down (though not seedy) vibe, and often feels deserted. (Even on a Friday or Saturday night the parking lot is never particularly full. Either that or the shopping center gives them free rent to keep it from being vacant.)
I guess it's okay if you like your theater to be mostly-empty (you can always move if somebody won't get off their phone or talks), but otherwise there are better choices.
I will mention that the picture is fine, and the sound system seems to be in good shape, so those systems haven't been neglected.
If you don't want to drive to the Grande (or the Grande doesn't have any good seats left for your showing), I guess it's a toss-up between here and Atlantic Springs, but that's hardly a recommendation with...
