Char-Grill — Restaurant in Raleigh

I keep coming here and coming back. Every single time I order food here, it's cooked to perfection, and that char-grilled flavor just cannot be beat! I normally order the 1/4-pound steakburger, which includes fries, bacon, cheese, mayonnaise, and lettuce. Add some salt and pepper. It's such a delectable treat to eat that burger!

I don't know where they purchase their french fries, but they're easily the longest fries I've regularly encountered at any restaurant. And best of all, Char-grill cooks them to perfection at this store.

The wait time is more than worth a fresh, off-the-grill steakburger and hot, just-cooked fries.

I sometimes order an apple pie, which is the style McDonald's used to sell about 20 years ago. It's a diced-apple compote completely encased in a shell, deep-fried until golden brown, and sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar. It's really a treat after a great meal.

I used to order their soft drinks, but have recently switched to drinking water on a regular basis. But their drinks were always perfectly balanced between the syrup and the carbonated water - no flat drinks here.

I tried a chocolate shake, and it tasted like it had come from Wendy's. I doubt there was any real milk in it at all; it was too thick to be real. Because it was served in a foam cup, it took a long time for the shake to warm up so I could drink it from the straw.

But the shake aside, I come here on a regular basis, about once per week, to get a great-tasting...

I was in Raleigh for an event and drove by the Strickland store. That looks neet let me try it. I knew nothing other than quick Google search in the parking lot. I went in. I didn't understand the ordering system. I hear people complaining about self checkout all the time this place I guess has been doing it since the 50s. Little pencils and order sheet that you fill out and. Slide through a slot to the cook. It took me and my family sometime to figure this out as there is no staff. This was not a good experience. We placed our order. They call your name over a PA system. We could not understand anything the man was saying. I had to go to the window and ask about our order. the quality of the food was okay. We all ordered the 1/2 pound burger and frys. Everything was bland. The burgers were over cooked and the edges were burnt. I understand charbroil but this was crunchy charcoal taste. The lady at the window was the best part she was friendly and understanding. The rest of the staff seemed interested in there job. I debated giving it a one star but he lady at window made me give it a 2. Not sure what all these five stars are for? Maybe it was just a day. Next time in Raleigh and want a quick bite I may try...

I've been here twice now and each time the food's good I mean if you're into burgers and french fries and hamburgers. This is the place to go. Honestly I prefer it over in and out or I mean cookout it's just better. Little more expensive but you know you walk away feeling full. Interesting order idea how you have to fill out a paper. The first time I went the dude filled it out for me the second time I went was a little hard to hear him but then I remember it all yeah you got to fill out the paper and a lady told me. A lot of kids in this place great place to bring your kids if you got them. From what I hear the milkshakes are pretty good. Overall good American joint stop by and get your burgers and whatnot. We can even watch him cook it up. I got two half pound burgers and two medium fries and a large Pepsi for like 20 bucks. Pretty good deal honestly. You know and it's not like fast food where it leaves you feeling that like hangover feeling or you need to eat more in an hour or so later this place is food...
