To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my concern regarding the service I received during a recent visit to Happy hale . Upon arriving to pick up my order, I noticed that there were no orders clearly marked as ready for pick-up. However, I did see two bags behind the counter and was unsure if one of them belonged to me.
I waited patiently as the cashier was assisting another customer. During this time, both a DoorDash driver and another customer arrived after me, yet they were greeted and helped promptly. I, on the other hand, was neither acknowledged nor addressed, which made the experience feel dismissive.
Eventually, I approached a second employee to inquire if one of the bags was mine, as I had still not been assisted. He informed me it was not, and I let him know I would step outside briefly to check on my children (ages 16 and 6), who were waiting and likely wondering about the delay—especially since my visits are typically quick and efficient.
When I returned, the cashier who initially ignored me had my order ready. I expressed appreciation for preparing the food but shared that I wished I had been acknowledged earlier, especially as others were assisted before me. The interaction felt awkward and exclusionary.
At that point, a manager intervened and told me, “Sir, you talk to me about problems, not her.” I explained the same concerns I had shared with the cashier, but instead of an apology or any form of understanding, I was told, “Your order was ready when it was supposed to be ready,” which felt dismissive and unrelated to my concern about the lack of basic customer service.
When I attempted to clarify, the manager escalated the situation by saying, “Sir, you can leave before I call security.” I was shocked by the response, especially given that I remained calm and respectful throughout. It left me feeling like I was treated as a problem rather than a valued, repeat customer. I was so upset my favorite place near home had disrespected me.
I have ordered from Happy Health numerous times without issue, but this experience was both disappointing and unnecessary. I hope this feedback encourages a review of how customers are treated, and that a stronger emphasis is placed on consistent and respectful service from all staff, including...
Read moreI have tried a few of the standard menu options at this location. I really wanted to enjoy them, and I would not be adverse to paying the menu prices had they been of high quality. It's not bad considering the lack of decent alternatives in the local area, but there's still something missing from what I've tried so far that would compel me to recommend it. The staff does not seem eager to pack the already conservative bowls to their full capacity. As someone who requires more calories than a 110 pound female yogi, I would probably be comfortable eating two of these bowls before feeling full. If you decide to go, building your own bowl is essential (the standard menu items range from baffling to very meh). Also, the drink formulas need to be revised to not contain so much cucumber / cilantro / whatever. On the rating matrix of relative affordability, portion size, nutrition, and taste, I would recommend using your appetite on Chipotle instead of here (or even better, taking a picture of the menu, buying the ingredients at whole foods, and making your own). I promise you will feel better than by ordering mid-tier "health" food to feed .8 people for...
Read moreUpdate 08/05/2025: Spoke with their VP, Jordan, who was incredibly kind and concerned about my experience at this location. I want to reiterate that I LOVE Happy + Hale as a brand, and was always going to continue to patronize their other three locations, but after our conversation I feel confident that there will be quick action to correct the concerning behaviors, which I stated in my initial review. I will return at some point after a few weeks/months have passed to give this location another fair shot. Please patronize their locations, as the food (and customer service) really is 100/10.
The staff are inconsistent in portion sizes and attitude. This is the third time in the past 2 weeks I’ve been to the Six Forks location and they’re constantly out of basmati rice as a base. This has never been an issue at the NH location, but for some reason this location runs outs multiple times a week. The worst part is they’re quite rude and condescending about how they inform their customers. At this point, just make the drive to the NH location 10 mins down the road. Better...
