I can’t say enough about the great team as Oak and Iron! This is more than a gym, it is a community. All of the trainers are so knowledgeable about movements and mechanics. They do more than lead a fitness class; they get to know you and coach you to you get stronger.
The program itself is one of the biggest reasons I go here. Before joining Oak and Iron I worked out on my own or with friends. That worked for a while and later I had a personal trainer. The thing I like about Oak and Iron is that it’s more affordable than a personal trainer but I still feel like I am getting the benefit of a high level routine combined with trainers that know me and my body.
I couldn’t make up this program on my own. MWF are Lift days focusing on different muscle groups in 12 week cycles. You work to improve on a test movement like back squat or bench press through structured progressive overload. TuTh and the weekend are cardio days with either steady state or interval sessions.
The equipment and facility are in great shape and everything is well maintained. Everyone in the classes knows each other’s names and we all celebrate progress together. Because you are working out with other people you are always pushing yourself to get a little bit more. If you are looking for a new gym or to increase your strength and fitness you should definitely check out...
Read moreUPDATE: One year later and I still love this gym! I've now been going to Oak and Iron regularly for about a year and a half. The workout programming is designed in a smart way to help you build strength and improve cardio but are also never boring! There is a welcoming and supportive energy too. Everyone wants to help each other succeed.
The trainers are one of the main reasons I keep coming back! While I originally joined the gym because of Mel, I now love taking class with all the trainers! I regularly take classes with Matt and Diana - they will both push you during class, but then laugh with you after class (or laugh at you while you complain about doing a wall sit)!
I can't recommend Oak and Iron enough!
Original review: I love Oak and Iron! When I moved to Raleigh, I tried most of the gyms around town looking for one that measured up to my old one. My search ended with Oak and Iron! It is a super welcoming community full of experienced trainers and friendly people. Shoutout to my trainer Mel who is AMAZING! The classes are challenging, but in a rewarding way that drives you to your best. The people here come to work hard and have fun. It definitely feels like a community, in...
Read moreI have been a member at Oak and Iron Fitness for over a year and a half and it has been the best gym experience I have ever had. The community is supportive, motivating, and fun. The coaches are knowledgeable and make every session both challenging and enjoyable while keeping proper form and safety a priority.
The programming is excellent. It is a well balanced mix of strength training, high intensity workouts, and zone 2 cardio that keeps things fresh and effective. It is a complete system that delivers results you can see and feel in your strength, endurance, and overall health. What I really appreciate is that it is designed for longevity. I can confidently see myself continuing this program well into my later years because it builds strength and conditioning without breaking down the body.
What has kept me consistent is not only the physical transformation but the mental one as well. I feel stronger, more confident, and less stressed. Oak and Iron has truly been life changing.
Whether you are new to fitness or have been training for years, this is a place where you can thrive. It is more than a gym. It is a community that pushes you to...
