I used to love shopping here, and did so frequently. The last time I was there, we had gone in the early evening. We had just walked in and began browsing, when we noticed that we were being followed by several workers at once. At one point, a manager began chasing me down after I had walked into the crafts section!!! Mind you, we are two average, everyday, mid to upper class, middle aged females!!! After having worked some retail security/loss prevention myself back in the day, I can assure you we fit none of the profiles they should have been looking out for. After being treated as if we were known criminals, we decided to just get what we went there for, and get the hell out. All while these employees continued to follow and corner us the entire way! When we showed the cashier (whom also happened to have been the only nice, helpful person we had encountered there that evening) our Ace Rewards card, we noticed that one of the manager's, who had now taken to barricading the exit on us, lest we suddenly attempted to escape, gave off the sudden appearance of her face flushing several shades of white, then red, before giving us a sheepish half smile/snarl and walking away. Read moreI've always been impressed with the Raymond NH Ace Hardware. All staff in the store, be it the cashiers or the folks in the various departments, have been friendly and extremely helpful. I was blown away today by one particular young man (I wish I got his name.) I bought a number of items in the store and paid for them, as well as four 2 cubic foot bags of potting soil, which I needed to pick up from outside. My cashier called out back requesting someone to assist me. I was waiting outside just a few minutes when I saw a young man leave the store and walk toward his car. Then I heard him call across the parking lot and ask if I had been taken care of. I told him what I was waiting for and he ran over to me. He said he had just gotten off of work at Ace but could grab the bags for me. He was loading the last bag when another staff member came out to help me, but wasn't needed. The young man was so nice and so pleasant. I told him he had an excellent work ethic. So nice to see today! As a business owner myself, I would hire him in a heartbeat. You've got a great...
Read moreYesterday I ordered an unassembled smoker online to pick up in store. Less than 20 minutes later i received a call from Darren to inform me that they only had one left, but it was assembled and I would likely need a truck to pick it up. This created a dilemma because I do not own a truck. I told Darren I would have to make a few calls and get back to him. When I called back Nick answered, he explained that he overheard the conversation and offered to deliver the smoker to my home that same day. To say I was baffled by his kindness would be an understatement. Not only did he deliver it to my home, but he was willing to wait until I got home from work at 5pm. I cannot get over the kindness and generosity this business has shown me, a complete stranger. Not only did they make my day but they reminded me that there are still genuinely great people in this world. I will forever be a Ben Franklin customer now and recommend them to anyone.
