I was a student here for all 4 years and graduated in 2013. The tour sold me. but as most reviews say, please dont fall for it. i was excited that every dorm room came with a Air conditioner, and mini fridge/freezer. I thought yes, what a way to save some money. And the rooms were a good size (depends on what dorm your assigned to.) The dorm they use for tours is a good size, but other buildings such as North Hall, some rooms could be smaller. I found ALL professors to be amazing. EXCEPT for 1. She gave me an F for a power point that I worked so so so hard on. Did an excellent presentation, and she gave me an F because even though I sited my work at the bottom of each slide, I was told every bullet point should have had been in quotation marks. To me, I felt that they didnt need to be in quotation marks since i did not write word for word in my slide. It was a summary of what i read and sited that website i used to gather my information. I appealed the grade, and the school sided with her. Brought my 3.2gpa to a 2.9gpa. It was senior year and nothing i could do about it. This 2.9 gpa made it extremely difficult to get into grad school of my choice after graduation. I was very upset a pair of quotation marks determined my after albight education journey. But besides this prof, everyone was very VERY nice. I like that Albright offers summer and winter classes if you wanna catch up or get ahead. I took advantage of winter classes so i could graduate on time. I also took advantage of taking summer classes at my local community college to graduate on time as well.
When i was there, the food was amazing. The dinner parties like christmas and mardi gras food was even better. there were tons of clubs to join and greek life. If you had an interest in a club that didnt exist, you were able to create one. (which me and my friends did) it was amazing. they also provided us with funding to have events and gatherings. that was amazing.
Overall, my time here was just "ok". There were plenty of things that needed to change. Like the diversity of the student body. There were not many black and brown students. Which made the current black and brown students feel uncomfortable. My last year more were accepted, and i saw the increase. I hope they continued to do that. I enjoyed the arts/theater/fashion there. Some class rooms were outdated but not all. Overall, i do not think Albright is the worse school ever. BUT it is DEFINITELY not worth 52-53k per year. absolutely not worth it. I received plenty and plenty of scholarships. I only owed $53k when i graduated. To me that was not bad as its 53k per year. So i techinically only owed for 1 year of 4 years of higher education. I appreciate the scholarships and time here and i made great friends whom im still friends with 10 years later exactly. My experience could have been A LOT better. It was not worth the money. I did NOT get what i paid for here at albright. and for that I am giving a 3stars. tuition too high, for the services received. Campus does not cater to whole student body. If your a fashion major you'll love it. Bio major you'll love it. Even Arts/theater you will LOVE it. Other majors are okay. But the school has sooooo sooo much for them. The money is worth it for them. Not...
Read moreAlbright College is a lie from the second that you step foot on the campus. During the tours they avoid showing you the dilapidated buildings and unsuitable classrooms. The academic buildings haven't been updated since the 60s and do not provide the proper academic environment. The only building they focus on during the tour is the "New" Science building. Looking beyond the misleading façade, you will find a disgrace to the academic field. Most of my professors ( I do not know all the professors and do not wish to bash them all) we're very poor educators and most of the time only having a masters degree in their field. There are many instances of professors are not willing to make time to help with students concerns and confusions. Professors often state that student should've got a tutor from the beginning of the semester and that it is their fault for not understanding the material even though the whole class is doing poorly. None of the faculty nor staff knows the proper protocol for helping students with disabilities. Even the head of disability services was very ignorant to her position and federal regulations. As I was told by the dean of Albright College, the students are customers and Albrigh college is a business. In an attempt to remedy the colleges extremely poor retention and graduation rate, Albright College began to except mass amounts of students, creating crowding of dorm and class. It has gotten to the point where upper class females were forced to move off campus due to lack of housing spaces on campus. It is unfortunate that my experience isn't a needle in a haystack, it's very common for Albright college most freshmen leave by the end of the first year. So if I could give anyone one piece of advice is don't be hypnotized by the aesthetically pleasing campus and the overly excited students. This is all a show, nobody is willing to help you when problems become prevalent even when it's the fault of the college.
FYI: If you are a student with disabilities this is not the school for you they're unwilling to get the tools you need to succeed. Disability services staff is extremely uneducated and ignorant in field of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis will be a long read. There is a summary at the end marked "Tldr." Do not be tricked by the tours you do for this college. There is hardly anything to do on or around campus, as I found out the hard way. The buildings for academic leaning are all very old and do not provide a nice climate for learning, except for the business building. The dorms are small, but they do have their own ac and mini fridge. They still look run down and it feels like a prison. The teachers are the only real thing bringing the rating up. Some people hate them, but to me they are very friendly and teach at a decent pace. Only 2 teachers I've had were bad(as a sophomore), such as reading directly from source and not explaining nor showing what is to be learned. Also, this school is mainly about sports (football, basketball, and girls lax) and fraternities/sororities. If you are in a sport that wasnt mentioned, then good luck. I was a part of the track team and it is god awful. Even with popular sports, there's never anyone in attendance until the finals. My high school has at least triple or more for such events. As far as the friends part, there are several people whom I know that hate the cliques that form so quickly. After the first semester, if you don't find where you fit in, it's very hard to do so later. There are groups that freshman are put into when they first arrive. Out of the 8 people in my group, only 2 other have stayed. Luckily the fraternities are desperate for people and it's easy to get in. I received a bid two days after showing up at a get -together. This college is very much an upgraded high school. *I strongly suggest looking elsewhere if you aren't coming here because it's cheap. Tldr; poor buildings/dorms, lots of cliques(hard to make friends), nothing to do around area, great teachers (at least for business), lots of parking spots (free and charged), all in all it isn't...
