The older white woman closing the store was beyond rude to my dad, my 3 kids and myself tonight!!! My dad is 64 years old and is disabled and has rheumatoid arthritis in his legs which cause his legs to give out on him quite frequently, among many other health issues so therefore he rides in a riding buggy!! For starters they have ONE riding buggy in the whole damn store..so i waited 30 to 40 mins when we arrived for someone to finish shopping so that i could ride it out to the car and my dad could come inside! So we get our stuff and my 4 yr old needs to potty and my 18 month old needs his diaper changed, he has pooped, as well as my 1 month old so i go to bathroom to take care of my kids, and i sit all my merchandise OUTSIDE the bathroom on an empty rack so that i can get it when i come out. This old lady decides she will just take EVERYTHING I WAS BUYING, after my dad informs her i had to take my children to potty and then we would be coming straight to the register but she still took it all and put it up, i guess, cuz i couldnt find it! I still had a few items in my dads buggy he was riding in, so i proceed to the register and i pay for the merchandise and i ask if she has the other things i was buying and she just rolls her eyes and says we are closed now! So, i had gotton all my daughters kindergarten school supplies as well as a few things for her bday party and now i have to go back and start over!! Now as if that wasnt enough already, she mouths at the register saying different remarks to the other 2 coworkers, who by the way were very professional and nice, about did they see if i took anything in the bathroom with me..SMFH .. really? What im gonna steal some dollar notebooks and other cheap supplies..REALLY? She chewed out the nice lady working the register because she gave my dad the senior citizen discount at the end of our purchase, just as every other senior citizen is able to get as well, but she was mouthing at her because i was with my dad so she said he should not have gotton it. I am frustrated by this point and head on out the door trying to keep my mouth shut... This old lady really followed us out into the area of the mall before you go out the doors where the little riding horses and cars are that kids ride for a quarter and proceeds to run her mouth to us saying she needs our buggies because she is closing up the store! Now mind you i have 3 Big rugs, a big snowcone maker in a box, and about 5 bags of merchandise i have purchased and put into my dads riding buggy to push out to our car. I tell the lady my dad cant walk that far and that i will personally bring it back inside once he gets to his vehicle.. NO !! My dad stood up to put a quarter in the little truck so my oldest 2 could ride it long enough for me to get the car pulled up to the front since i had to remove them out of their seats in my stroller to put all our merchandise in the stroller. But that didnt please her either! She starts yelling at a man who is standing at the door to lock it saying "Lock those doors, i told them i was closing" But the man was very friendly and even walked me and my 1 month old son out to the parking lot, which also had no lights and was pitch black!!! Now its not like it was 915, hell not even 910, it is only 9:04 at this point!! So, while i am getting the car and trying to load all our stuff , my triple stroller and my son; my dad starts walking out the door with my 4 yr old daughter and 18 month old son and doesnt even make it to the curve where i have pulled the car before his leg gives out and he falls down on his knee on the cement!!! Now this is plum ridiculous!! He should have never been made to walk out to that parking lot, after he told her he couldnt make it, and she still took the damn riding buggy from him!!! My dad is 6'4" and 370 pounds and i had to strain helping get him to his feet, while my kids screaming and crying because their pawpaw is hurt!! I had an emergency c section a month ago with my son and really should not have helped get him up but i had no choice!! Im going...
Read moreI still wish the owners of the building /property would fix the holes in the roof, so buckets don't have to be scattered inside to catch rain water. I also think that they should repair the "MANY HOLES" in the drive & parking areas... ESPECIALLY ON THE SIDE NEAR CHINA GRILL & BACK TOWARD THE OLD Winn-Dixie". JUST THESE TWO PROBLEMS HAVE BE GOING ON FOR GOING ON AT LEASE 20 YEARS. They might "patch" the roof as a temporary fix, but it never lasts very long. Last, I would appreciate it if SOMEONE would turn the lights on inside the hallway between Strader's Shoe Store & Roses. It's so dark in that hallway, I'm almost scared to go down it during the day. I'm surprised that the owner of Bob Adams Florist (the only store in that dark hallway) hasn't thrown a fit because decreased walk-in sales. I know it has decreased the frequency of MY visits! Overall, the place is just sad. That I understand, the city was encouraging businesses to move out to Freeway Drive. Next, the city decided that they wanted to REVIVE the UPTOWN BUSINESSES. I'm 55 now, when I was a kid White Star, Mayberry's, Big Apple Grocery Store and THE (Pennrose) MALL were the best places in town to go. I'm very happy that our city has grown out to Freeway Drive, BUT I THINK THAT "THE CITY" SHOULD BE DOING MORE TO KEEP "OUR MALL" IN BUSINESS!!!
Thank you for your...
Read moreBelk needs to expand their store out into the mall to incorporate the current front entrance to the mall so that they can have a more appropriate and accessible front entrance facing the front of the mall. The additional square footage gained by pushing forward into the current mall space and making the current exterior entrance into the mall instead a direct entrance into Belk by incorporating the vacant mall space would greatly benefit Belk with the additional square footage gained. The current Belk side entrance should have its glass doors replaced with metal doors and be converted to an employee only entrance or a freight entrance. Tremendous potential for Belk if they’d reorient the store layout and once again take advantage of and focus on the mall entrance as the main store entrance and consider gaining much needed additional square feet by pushing forward into the mall corridor. Belk and the mall ownership should partner together to make this happen. It’d be a definite win-win for both companies as well as help boost traffic and sales for existing tenants with very minimal upfit and conversion...
