Urban Roots — Local services in Reno

I had a horrible experience with Urban Roots summer program. I would never allow my daughter to go back here again. My daughter had an ongoing UTI that she had been treated for twice in six months but for some reason Urban Roots felt the need to call CPS without first consulting with a parent first. They claimed medical neglect, which if they had bothered to ask me, I would have told them exactly what was going on. I was absolutely mortified by this experience and extremely offended. I applaud their mission though their advertising is very misleading. It states 2-3 bags of veggies, fruit, herbs and flowers. I received 1/2 bag that included 1 bunch of carrots, I bunch of radishes, 16 string beans, 6 leaves of kale, 8 small leaves of chard, 1 garlic clove, about 1 1/2 cups arugula, a bunch of spearmint and a sprig of rosemary. Oh yes, a small bouquet of asst. sunflower - it is pretty. I accept that I made a donation. I was just shocked when they handed me the bag and even more so when I unpacked it. I doubt I will be buying more. I may make another donation But my hope of supporting them weekly is...

This school and camp are a tremendous asset to our family and the whole community. They genuinely care for the children and are well organized. I love that the kids can spend the whole day outdoors exploring; picking fresh, organic food off the plant to rinse and eat. A literal farm to table experience.
