This was not my favorite place for chinese. The staff was friendly and attentive, however the flavors of the food were just not there for me. My husband and I ordered the family meal A with Generals Chicken and Sezechwan Beef. The pot sticker seemed kind of gummy to me (I prefer a little bit of crunch on the flat side of a pot sticker). The egg roll was a little off putting as well. Not sure what it was filled with, which was a big part of my problem. Your customer should never have to guess what they are eating. When the main course came out it looked great and was nicely plated. My first bite of the chicken let me know I was not going to thoroughly enjoy my meal but I could still politely eat it. The breading on the chicken was a bit mushy for my liking and the sauce while spicy (I asked for extra spice) was bland and really tasted like it was just a simple sugar sauce with red chili peppers added in. There was no depth to it. I tried one bite of the Beef Sezechwan. Again with the sugary sauce problem but also the piece of beef I got was chewy and seriously off putting. I didn't go for a second bite. Always down to try a new place, but after hearing all the good reviews this visit left me very disappointed. If even one thing I tried would have been appetizing I would return for another try. Sadly I won't be going back. 3 stars for the friendly staff and the clean restaurant and the food is edible but it wasn't...
Read moreSF Kitchen pleasantly merges Vietnamese and Chinese cuisines, offering a unique dining experience. While primarily focusing on Vietnamese pho, the restaurant also dabbles in Chinese dishes.
Service: The service at SF Kitchen was a mix of hits and misses. While prompt with serving Thai tea, there were misunderstandings with my order. Despite a minor hiccup, the staff rectified the mistake swiftly. However, a subsequent interaction where the server attempted to teach me about pho left a sour taste due to condescension.
Pho: The chicken pho, though promptly served, lacked depth in its broth, scoring a modest 6/10. The use of cabbage, albeit unconventional, didn't resonate well with my palate. While SF Kitchen offers a decent neighborhood spot for pho, it may not warrant a special trip.
Ambiance: The dining area impressively maintains cleanliness, reflecting the staff's attentiveness. However, closer inspection reveals areas like the menu table covered in dust and the front cashier area not up to par.
Overall Impression: SF Kitchen embodies Reno's simple and fast-paced dining scene. While it may not offer extraordinary fare, it deserves acknowledgment for its efforts. Don't expect culinary marvels, but appreciate the...
Read moreA couple weeks ago we tried to get pho at a couple other locations, but they were closed on a Tuesday night?!?! SF Kitchen was close to the second location we tried, so we decided to come here. The staff seemed pleasant and attentive. When ordering pho, there was no option of small or large, it was a single bowl for all. In our group, one person ordered the chicken pho and another ordered the rare steak pho. Both of them said that there was nothing that stood out to make it better or worse than any other pho place, but they both indicated they liked the pho at the other places we go to more. I ordered the grilled pork over vermicelli noodles. The waitress brought out the fish sauce prior to my dish coming to the table. The color was more red than any other place I have been to, and my wife sitting to my right indicated that she could smell the sauce from across the table (to my left). It didn't smell bad, it just had a strong smell. The portion of my dish was fine, and the addition of the fish sauce, made the flavor that much better. I agree with the others, there was nothing that I tried that made me want to come here over the other...
