We did some research to find a great taco truck while visiting in Reno and Tacos Pillulles absolutely was it. It’s in the parking lot of a Home Depot and during the day, surely gets a lot of business. (We went for dinner and were able to get seats at the tables they had set up.) We ordered a bunch of tacos al pastor (marinated pork), cabeza (beef head), carnitas (shredded pork), and carne asada. Each one was DELICIOUS and had distinct flavors from the others. The three salsas that came with the tacos were distinct and flavorful and mildly to moderately spicy (but nothing to set your tongue on fire). The carnitas tacos also came with a delicious consommé. Bonus points for having a wide variety of Jarritos and Mexican Coca Cola (i.e., in glass bottles). And the service was quick, incredibly friendly, and pleasant. I would 100% recommend Tacos Pillulles to anyone looking for good street tacos and will definitely be back the next time I’m in Reno.
(And for those who are curious, I asked about the meaning of Pillulles. The woman who was working didn’t know, but said it was the nickname of the owner. He’s been called Pillulles since he was a...
Read moreBest chicken quesadilla I've ever had, by a long shot. There's nothing like it. I love the salsa variety as well. Every one of them is delicious. Try mixing them, too!
The owner/operator is a super nice guy. The food comes out in that perfect amount of time that let's you know it's made to order, but not so long that you find yourself looking down at your watch every 30 seconds.
Pillulles took away the seating during COVID, but there wasn't much to begin with. It's a tiny place. I always get take-out, so this is a non-issue for me. I wouldn't count on taking your extended family out to Pillulles for a birthday meal, is what I'm getting at.
I haven't been to Pillulles in a long time, though, because it's hard to know when they're open. The hours on their website and the hours on Google are completely different. In an effort to avoid getting down there only to find them closed, I've tried calling ahead multiple times. No one answers. It's a shame, I miss going...

If you’re looking for the ultimate comfort food, this taco truck has it! I came for the tacos but ended up trying the pozole, and let me tell you, it was straight gas!! The broth was rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice to warm you up without being overpowering. The hominy was perfectly cooked, and the tender chunks of meat melted in your mouth.
The portion was generous, and the quality was top-notch. It’s clear they take pride in their food. Whether you’re a posole fan or trying it for the first time, this is a must-try! I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu, but the posole has already stolen the show....
