I really enjoyed the woman at the front counter, she was sweet, personable, very helpful and a solid worker! She even paused her lunch so she could ring me out.
However I was quite disappointed when I walked in, I was even a bit taken back. I was looking forward to working with a nail tech, which aligned with what I would envision a black owned business would offer.. Black staff members... That was not the case, all of the nail techs were of Asian decent- not that it’s a problem, I was just hoping to see black women or men working the stations. I was not the only one who noticed this, a woman next to me, was unsure if she was at the right place, I too started to question if I had been at the right shop.
Aside from being a bit taken back, I was also disappointed in the customer service from the nail techs. The woman next to me, was unsatisfied with her nail shape, her and the nail tech went back and forth trying to get it right, and after the woman would express her wants for the nail shape, the tech would roll her eyes, speak in her language to my nail tech and they would proceed to laugh and snicker... This was not a vibe and It was obvious the woman next to me was being talked about for complaining about the crooked nail shape that I could even see from across the way.
As for my nails, they were sloppy, very subpar. My tech lacked attention to detail, she left paint on the corners where the nail and skin meet. She left the dip caked up underneath the nail, and I had to repeatedly ask her to use the sharp tool under my nail to remove the excess dip powder. Even after requesting she use the tool and remove it several nails still had the dip powder caked up underneath my nail. I attempted to scrape it off myself as she watched.
I will say the prices are low, very affordable - but I guess that means you get what you pay for? I love to support black owned businesses- but I don’t think I will...
Read moreI went to Us Nails about a month 4 weeks ago for a shelac manicure. I was very pleased with them and returned a couple weeks later to have them freshened up. The paint held up very nicely for those 2 weeks. I went in again on a Sunday. The following Sunday evening I noticed that they were already starting to chip. I called the following morning to let them know. I spoke to a woman at the front desk, told her the situation, and she essentially asked me if I wanted to come in for a full shelac manicure again or just a polish change. I told neither, I just wanted them fixed since I was just there and it's only 3 or 4 nails . She proceed to tell me after 1 week there is a charge. I was shocked to hear that so I politely asked her" So what you are telling me is you only guarantee your work for 1 week?" There was dead silence on her end and then she proceed to tell me that it was over a week I waited. I told her it was by 1 DAY and they didn't start chipping until the 1 week mark literally last night so why would I have come in sooner if nothing was wrong with them? She asked to put me on hold. She then came back on the line and made the situation worse. She then told me, " Actually, we only fix nails at no cost after 3 days." I couldn't help but laugh and I asked her, " So now you only guarantee your work for 3 days, not 7?!" She said ," Yes".
Needless to say, this place will not be getting my returned business and I feel other consumers should be warmed of this shady business practice that is not posted or discussed at any point. Stear clear and go to a place that values their customers and stands by their work! The 1 star is strictly for the hard-working and kind nail techs that probably get...
Read moreBought a Groupon and was able to get a same day appointment to get a mani/pedi with my girlfriend. The place was packed when I arrived so I was hoping it would be good since most nail places are always disappointing. The owner here was nice and welcoming. I just wanted a regular mani/Pedi no gel or anything so I choose my OPI colors and sat down. The lady doing my nails did a good job of trimming and shaping my nails. We then moved onto the pedicure which had freezing water and they informed us their hot water wasn't working. I asked for the Spa Pedicure with Paraffin wax for my feet since I had read their menu online and knew this would only be $5 more so why not. She said that's totally fine and wouldn't charge us for the Paraffin wax since they had no hot water which was unfortunate because I was really looking forward to soaking my feet in some hot water. Oh Well! They also did a sugar foot scrub which I thought was part of the "Spa Pedicure" but when I read it online it said either sugar foot scrub paraffin wax and that's why I made it clear that I only wanted the Paraffin Wax for my feet but of course when I got to the register they charged us $5 extra for the sugar scrub basically taking away the "free" part away from us.
The massage was not so great and she just rubbed lotion on my feet and rushed us outside. I asked for flowers on my toes and the lady doing my nails said she doesn't do those....okay but I'm sure someone else in their salon knows how to make flowers right? Anyways their loss I wont be...
