We have just moved to Renton and were looking for good teriyaki near our house- so my wife picked up some chicken breast teriyaki at Miako Teriyaki and brought it home. What a mess. The teriyaki was literally the worst I have ever had and thatâs saying something. The chicken breast was freezer burnt and very, very rubbery. In the words of Mr Ramsey, âA Dogâs Dinner.â Except I would consider not feeding this teriyaki to my dog for fear it would make him sick. I tried to call the restaurant for a refund on my card and got no answer several times so I decided to drive what was left to them. When I got there, the owner tried to tell me, âI use only the finest and freshest chickenâ and âyou must not know good teriyaki.â What a joke, the breasts were not cut up (that was a first) and were very obviously those flash frozen fillets you get at Safeway for $3.00 a pound. I let the owner know that I had worked in the restaurant industry for many years and I knew freezer burnt, dry, tired old chicken from nice fresh meat. He got very quiet and looked down. I asked him to taste a piece of my chicken breast that I had not touched- he balked. I kept urging until he finally relented and tasted a piece. His face fell. I could clearly see all over his face that it tasted awful. Still he would not admit that he was serving old, freezer burnt meat that was lazily prepared, carelessly dumped into styrofoam and overcharged for. He again stated that the chicken was the âfinest available.â I finally threw up my hands, refused the refund he offered and told him my family would never eat there again. If he had least offered me an apology for having to drive my dinner back to the restaurant because they do not answer the phone and admitted that they had served me awful food then I would have at least given them a second chance at my business. Instead, the owner tried to insult my intelligence and would not admit fault. I will never waste my money there again and neither...
Read moreI walked in at 3:05p and there wasnât anyone behind the counter and the gal working was sitting at a table and asked what I wanted. I said a garlic chicken and she said itâs actually our lunch break but I can make it for you, which I immediately felt guilty for so asked if she was sure. She said the cook had left but she can make it and got up. I asked for fried rice instead of white rice and she said they only have white, which is obviously not true from the menu on the wall but I could tell she didnât want to make it (or didnât know how) since the chef was there, so I said that was fine. I then asked for extra sauce on the side and told her it was okay if she charged me for it before I swiped my card. She said âit is butâŚâ and looked down, clearly inferring I should tip her instead, which I always do at take out spots, just felt awkward. She wasnât rude in any way and she was very kind at the end when giving me my food and lots of extra sauces, which are awesome!
Iâd been recommended their garlic chicken having never been there and once I tried it, it was everything I expected and then some, super delicious! Fantastic teriyaki find!
I noticed as I left that there was indeed a sign saying Lunch Break from 3-4pm, but I need to share with the owners that if you are giving your employees a lunch break where they donât need to do any work then lock the door from 3-4! Donât allow yourself to have a sign that says lunch break and keep your door open so your employees are awkward about guests interrupting their meal time!
This employee wasnât the issue at all, she was as nice as Iâd expect anyone being interrupted on their lunch to be. But câmon owners, donât do this to...
Read moreI called to order chicken teriyaki and beef short ribs to bring home for dinner. I got there and paid for my order and waited. When the cashier finally handed me my order, I checked inside the bag and there was no teriyaki sauce (which I usually get from other teriyaki places) So I told her I didnât get any of the sauce and if I can have some, she was not very nice when she said âYou have to ask for itâ - in a very snobbish way actually. But, when she was helping a lady who picked up her order before me, I heard her asked if she needed utensils and extra sauce and all that. But with me, she just handed my order in a very dismissive manner. Made me think she has selective kindness?! I am not from the area and I just happened to drop off a friend who lives in Renton, and for me to experience such was really unpleasant. I think she was just done for the day or maybe had a long day at work. But a little kindness wonât hurt. Also, There were no people dining from the time I got there - to the time I left (which was about 25 minutes) but tables have full dirty dishes waiting to be bussed, while she was just at the counter standing most of the time. On the other hand, food portion was on the smaller side, but was really good and tasty which my family enjoyed...
