I've gone to the SHC numerous times for a variety of things and usually have no problems. I went recently to get help for a scraped leg since it was pretty bad and not healing fast, but had to see a different nurse/doctor than usual. This time I was charged more than I was informed I'd be during my appointment. They told me the price of a tentanus shot and I agreed. Then they charged me for the ointment they perscribed me. When asked why I was charged this time for an ointment when I've gotten perscriptions in the past for free, they said it was because I had gotten it from the SHC and not an outside pharmacy using my insurance. Maybe this was my fault for just blindly trusting the doctor seeing me, but I feel like it's unfair that I was charged for something that I had no choice in. She didn't give me an option to send it to an outside pharmacy nor did she tell me how much it would cost. So now I'm stuck paying out of pocket for something I thought would cost significantly less because they failed to fully inform me of the price breakdown and my options. I feel like this is especially awful for the student body in general becuase you're serving students that are really young, fresh out of high school and they may not know about their options when it comes to health/insurance and this feels slightly preadtory and as if you're cheating students out of their money. From now on I'll just stick to the usual doctor I know and trust but otherwise, I think I'd rather just out any non life threatning issues on my own because the SHC is terrible at being transparent and offering full disclosure of costs and your options for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe service here is a joke. Staffs don't even know what they're doing. I made an appointment two times (one for scheduling, another for confirmation), but they kicked me out on the visit because they couldn't find me on their records. They said they could see I paid for the fee. Then why did I pay for the fee? The woman at the desk seemed to blame on me since she was repeatedly saying "you are not on the record". I don't care whatever mistake you made, but you guys were the ones responsible for it. This is not first time. I had the same issue when I came here at UTD 4 years ago and needed for vaccination. They don't care about students and they never get better. People here are very rude and have no work IQ. Plus, they have a few very tiny rooms and limited facilities with few medical professionals. Population here has doubled since I came here but no expansion? Don't waste your time and money and go for an off...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went into this with zero expectations (especially because of the reviews). However, I was pleasantly surprised with my visit. I called and they scheduled me an appointment within an hour of me calling. I went in with cold symptoms and was quickly taken back with the nurse. She quickly recommended a Covid/ Flu test ($30 cost). Biju Chacko was very professional and immediately identified symptoms of a viral infection. He was very caring and took his time to explain things. He prescribed me medication and I am already feeling better. Give it a try, I was not...
