Northside Drafthouse & Eatery — Restaurant in Richardson

Being a college baseball player at UT Dallas As well as a Physics major, I had the unwanted desire to try both of the new draft houses that had been newly added to the Northside’s apartments. First, we went to Northside Drafthouse and Eatery knowing it had great reviews. I ordered 1 drink and proceeded to play pool with my friends as we normally do. 30 minutes in I proceeded to slam my pool stick on the table causing it to have a minor crack. Without any hesitation the owner of the bar comes over and proceeds to charge me for the pool stick. Me being an understanding customer I accept his plea and pay for the pool stick on the spot with no interjection. The owner charges my for the pool Stick and proceeds to KICK ME OUT OF HIS BAR. after I had a bar tab that was paid, after how early it was in the night, after how much I had promised him I was going to spend at his bar, he kicked me out for a simple crack in his pool stick. Being a young adult I’ve been playing pool at bars for years and I will say that this bar does not buy even the sub par grade of pool sticks. It buys cheap pool sticks and charges you for braking them as well as kicking you out of them for good. Northside Drafthouse, you had a VERY committed customer until your owner decided to be unreasonable worker after I payed for the stick WITHOUT HESITATION. If you go to UT Dallas and are looking for a place to chill and relax, Northside Taproom and Eatery is NOT the place for you. American Taproom is. This was my first visit to Northside.  Its nice to have something this close to my work to go to afterwards for a good beer, drink and food.  I ordered the Farm Stand Pizza, which is an eggplant, mushroom, fried onion and green pepper pizza.  Being a huge fan of eggplant, I was not disappointed.  The guys sitting next to us ordered chips and queso and the queso looked really good.  It must have been as they ate the whole order.

The 4 star rating is for two things I found fault with:

1. you had to order food at the bar

2. there is no easy way to see the tap list from the bar.  They have a chalkboard that has the list, but from the opposite side of the bar, its not that easy to see (my old eyes are part of the problem).  We had to walk over to the screen and look at the list in order to peruse the tap list.

Neither is a deal breaker.  I am sure issues will be worked out as they go along as they just opened up.  Location is good and it will be a great place to grab a drink this spring early summer as they have a nice patio.

I will go back and if the two issues are fixed (or at least better than before) I will change my rating to 5 star.  One last thing:...

Went on sat night. We were there for about 25 minutes and ordered one beer and two ranch waters.

I got the bill and it was over $60.

I got the print out and asked why it was so high and was told that we ‘got doubles and charged extra for topo Chico.’

I told her I didn’t ask for doubles and she said that they always serve doubles when anyone orders ranch water.

So, just wanted to clarify: You automatically serve four shots within 30 minutes whether someone asks or not she said yes.

I do not like a lot of alcohol in my drinks and would never order a double. Is that even legal to serve a double without asking?

I asked her what her name was (tamera) and as soon as I asked she asked me if she should credit some of the drinks and I said no thanks and left.

This is super shady.
