I almost never give negative reviews. This is one of them. Store was padlocked at 12:30pm on a Wednesday, despite their posted hours. Called their phone number and they said they would come and open the door at 1:30. Waited until 1:45, called again. Someone else answered and said they said they were getting gas and would be there at 2:00. Someone finally showed up at 2:30 after standing outside the door for 2 hours.

Store does have lots of nice merchandise, but almost none of it is priced. Asked what a vest would cost, said $120. Got to the register and they said it's actually $129 because it's "nice".

They berated my wife a year ago for trying to return an unused hat that I received as a gift that didn't fit. Received store credit. As I was checking out, owner said I was "lucky" that he was honoring the credit after 90 days.

There was nothing lucky about shopping...

I was walking around the store for 15 mins without being acknowledged (I was the only customer and there were two employees at the counter) I had to ask for help They thought I was an easy lick: “How much are you willing to spend” I was asked, “$100-$200” They helped me find the right hat that I wanted, but when I asked asked how much (because there were no price tags) I was told “it’s normally $220, but for you I will do $200” According to Stetsons website and any other retailer, it’s $160. “That’s just the online price.” I had to pull teeth to get it to $180 because I’d rather support a local store than an online shop, but I couldn’t help but notice the arbitrary $220 cut down to EXACTLY the highest price point I said I wanted to spend. Also return within 30 days of purchase. New with receipt....

I wanted to love this store. I bought some really cool boots that I decided were too big for me. When I tried to return them I was told they were “used” and they would not accept the return. I wore them around my living room for 20 minutes trying to decide if they fit! Also, when I looked online it turns out they way overcharged me for the boots. Go to Schatzlein saddle shop...
