All City Candy — Local services in Richmond Heights

I purchased a dozen chocolate-covered strawberries from All City Candy for my mom on Sunday. By Tuesday, two of them had visible mold, and the one I ate was sour. It was crucial to note that these strawberries had to be consumed within 24 hours, as they were perishable items.

When I returned three of the strawberries to the store, the owner only offered me a refund of $10. I requested a refund of $20, which is half of what I had paid, and was told, “Can we meet in the middle?” Honestly, I didn’t feel that was fair. I had paid for quality, and a significant portion of the box had already spoiled.

I was deeply disappointed with the quality of the strawberries and the poor customer service. I strongly advise anyone who buys perishables from this store to consume them immediately and not expect a full refund if they go bad.

Edit to what the business replied to: she only wanted to give me ten dollars after asking me what was going to make this happy because she wasn’t compensating the whole gift.

It was a gift for my mother on Mother’s Day and no one or the packaging said they had to eat almost two pounds of strawberries in 24-36 hours.

Also to add, they claim that the strawberries are bought and made the same day, impossible because you cannot buy jumbo strawberries in the store you have to special order...

I am a chocolate tootsie pop enthusiast. I have been since birth practically. I have ordered the chocolate pops from nearly every company that has them to offer, so when I tell you that All City Candy has the freshest chocolate pops at one of the lowest prices, I’m speaking from an experienced shopper. I would even go so far as to bet you 10 chocolate tootsie pops that you’d agree with me.

The first thing I do is inspect the stick, (checking for a barcode, barcode means they were bought individually at various stores and then sold together as bulk- these did not have a barcode), then the tightening of the wrapper, then the color of the chocolate. I know how it’s going to taste based on dark the brown coloring is. I couldn’t believe how fresh these were, it’s like hitting the tootsie lottery. The tootsie center was clearly present, I’ve had some that barely had a center. I’ve had 3 so far but opened several, as I always inspect my new shipment thoroughly, all are looking excellent. Definitely will be a returning customer. I only regret not finding this place sooner.

Selection of past candy varieties is excellent. One outstanding point is the ability to select one favorite flavor from candy that often comes in mixed flavors. As an example, if you only like orange Tootsie Roll Pops, you can buy them by the bag full. The same goes for specific flavors like popcorn flavored Jelly Belly candy beans. Plenty of different candies are also available in the large bulk bin selections. This is an excellent place to go if you are collecting specific items like Pez dispensers or looking for a novelty tabletop dispenser like an M&M character. The store is kept very clean and hygienic and the employees are friendly and helpful. My only negative is that the prices are a bit high. This is understandable for hard to find candy, but current popular varieties should be more competitively priced.
