Nellie George — Local services in Richmond

I live a block away from Nellie George, and after 3 years finally decided to pop in. I’ve never seen such a collection of garish, uncomfortable clothes in my life. There was not one thing I would put on my body and it seems as if the buyers were trying to find the most unflattering dresses possible. Who is their target customer? While price isn’t an issue for me, I didn’t bother to look at the prices because I didn’t like anything. I guess if you pay $500 for an ugly dress, the price makes it less ugly?

On the bright side, their new location across the street on Grove is spacious and inviting, and the employees were friendly. I’ve had great luck finding treasures at NG, especially when they run sales! They carry a wide range of sizes, which I appreciate, since many specialty stores don’t carry an entire line above a size eight. The staff is so helpful, even if you’re just browsing; special shout-out to Grace and Hannah for letting me shop at my own pace, and giving great suggestions and honest feedback. Alexis, LoveShackFancy, Saloni, 525 America, and Roller Rabbit are some of my favorite brands, and I can find all of them at NG, plus they keep their inventory rotated so everything stays current.
