We were on vacation for a week and during that time our dog went completely blind, and into organ failure due to not eating. The story that I am getting from the facility keeps changing. We are beyond upset. Dropping off a dog who was given a clean bill of health the week prior by her vet (she has dental decay and a heart murmur) and then picking up a dying dog covered in her own vomit is not acceptable. The report card we received from them while we were gone stated she was doing âgreatâ. They didnât notice she went blind while in their care, nor that she had lost an extreme amount of weight. After getting her home, we made the decision to take her to an emergency vet facility. Due to her condition, the decision was made to put her down to end her suffering. We are devastated. We have used them for our girls for years with no problems until now. I do not believe our girl was treated with malicious intent, but with neglect. How do you not notice a dog has gone completely blind in your care and is starving to death? The manager Cayla, was kind, but the story we have been told has changed multiple times and many excuses have been given. The bottom line is our dog was neglected while in their care and it has resulted in her death. The owner lives in TX but I did speak to him by phone and after a lengthy discussion, he reimbursed us the cost of our dogs stay, and for Daisyâs cremation. He also owns the Zia Pet Hospital which is located right next door. I understand both businesses are currently up for sale. I did reach out inquiring if I could make a grooming appointment for one of our other dogs, as the groomer was wonderful and always did a great job, and is separate from the boarding, but was told no. Thatâs perfectly understandable, and we scheduled her...
Read morePlease be cautious when leaving your pet here. Unfortunately we had an unpleasant experience. We were told we would have correspondence well we were away. We were also told our Amari would be out and about. We were told she would be in good hands. The phones were never answered when we called and when we arrived to pick her up we were met with knowledge of shortage of staff our pups things were lost and they couldnât find them. We had a to wait an hour as they searched. We spoke to management with no regard other than they were busy. As I waited I saw a dog unattended in the back where the bath was with the loop around its neck and crying the whole duration well we were there and we were there for a good hour. I asked staff about the dogs safety and they said they only have four staff members. They finally brought her out without her things and said they would continue looking and call us back if they found them. They called us back later and said they found her things in the lost and found. Since she has been back she has had anxiety. We think she was left locked up for long periods of time. When I went to pick her things up working staff were sitting on the floor on their cell phone instead of taking care of the dogs. I should of known better when I dropped her off the staff who checked us in was not welcoming. FYI there is only 4 staff members. Our Amari is part of our family and we wished for a safe environment. Dogs are left unattended throughout the night, there is no staff there. We were so worried we came back from our trip early and were not allowed to pick her up till the next day due to...
Read moreMy bf and I decided to take a vacation in August, and we needed to board our 2 yr old Rottweiler, Baloo, for the first time! We definitely did our research, because, he is our child, and we wanted him to be very comfortable and stay at the best place possible. My family has always used the Canine Country Club, so we decided to check it out again for ourselves, and the conditions were anything but homey.. it was so dark, cold, and there was no love. The dogs only get one play time a day and only 2 potty breaks! We were shocked, and we knew that place was out. I then researched Monte Vista, as we've never heard of it. We took a tour and we were in love! Our fur baby then came along with us for a second tour and meet & greet, and he was in love as well. The knowledge and care of the staff at Monte Vista is truly incredible and one of a kind. They actually care about every pet that goes there, and that is something genuine about them. The different groups for different sized fur babies was also a huge plus! (Baloo is a 120lbs!) He had such an amazing time while we were gone, he was sad to leave! And since he loved it so much, we decided to do doggie day care once a week so he could continue swimming, playing and seeing the staff. If you are needing to board your pet, your only choice should be...
