As my wife was about to pay for her purchases yesterday the checker (as is their custom) asked if she'd like to apply for a Kohl's card. My wife declined but asked for her senior discount (as is offered each Wednesday.) The checker told her he could not give her the senior discount unless she applied for the Kohl's card. My wife said she's been shopping there since the store first opened and has never heard of such a thing. The checker then tried to get her to go to the back of the store and talk with Customer Service. My wife refused and told him that if this was necessary she'd simply not purchase the clothing she'd selected. The checker thought about the situation briefly and then decided that he could grant her the senior citizen discount (which she is entitled to by corporate store policy.) I know that Kohl's pushes it's employees to sign up as many new credit card applicants as possible. I don't know if there is some incentive ($) to do so but this clerks eagerness to sign my wife up apparently lead him to lie and say he could not give her the discount she is entitled to.
I later spoke with a woman who identified herself as the assistant store manager and tried to explain what had transpired. Instead of listening to what I was saying she was intent on interrupting and defending her employee. Her poor attitude and customer service skills were palpable. In the end she tried somewhat to make amends by offering us "Kohl's Cash" and said she would talk with the cashier involved. I told her we were not trying to get something for nothing and declined the offer of Kohl's Cash. We only wanted to bring to her attention a situation she should be made aware of. I could understand better the problem we'd had with the cashier after trying to speak with the assistant manager and listening to her attitude.
This is not typical of our experiences with this store. Perhaps everyone involved was just having a bad day. Lying to or misleading a customer however is...
Read moreKohl's has officially lost my business after many years of loyal patronage. One of the best things about Kohl's has always been the percent off coupons but, because you have imposed so many restrictions on their use, they're basically worthless. It seems all of the products in which I'm interested are excluded so what is the point of shopping with Kohl's any longer? You had great deals for many years and I was always happy to share my experiences with friends in person and on social media, but those days are over. Now all anyone has to say about Kohl's is "they're definitely on their way out!" What a shame because there is a store literally a mile from my house and I used to shop their all the time. But when the great deals that made you so popular are taken away, that's when you lose favor and go out of business. Clearly the powers that be have moved away from the companies original vision and there is no doubt they will lose tons of business as a result.
I made this decision months ago but I still go to Kohl's for Amazon returns. The other day I received $5 in Kohl's cash AND I had a 30% off coupon, so I decided to give Kohl's another chance and look around a bit. Clearly, Kohl's has made dramatic changes to their merchandise because there was very little that interested me. After looking for nearly an hour, I found a pair of Lee brand shorts and headed to the check-out to purchase them. On the way there I asked an employee if Lee was one of the excluded brands. She replied in the affirmative so I set the shorts down, threw my Kohl's cash and coupon in the trash, and left! This experience just reaffirmed my previous decision! I'm DONE!!!...
Read moreI went to kohl's to use my $10 kohl's cash. Last month I earned $10 so they gave it to me today and you get the rest of the month to use it. So I bought these white plates. I used my kohl's cash but I don't like that kohl's has their own way of doing things. They sent out a coupon for the "new year" but its for online only. So since I was inside kohl's I found the plates that I wanted and then searched for them online. Once I found them I applied the 20% "new year" coupon and the $10 kohl's cash. But they always apply the kohl's cash prior to applying the discount so that you don't get that much of a discount. I think it should be the other way around because had they applied the 20% coupon first I would've gotten $9 off plus the $10 kohl's cash so I would've saved a total of $19. But instead they took off the $10 kohl's cash and then applied the 20% coupon which gave me $17 off. So there's an extra $2 that I had to pay for the plates. I just feel like the deal sounds a lot better than it...
