DECEMBER 2023 UPDATE

The last time I came to this gym was the summer of 2022, and their AC in the back room (free weight room) was broken down and was being repaired according to the front desk. I attended for another week and just couldn't bear the heat in the room, being that it was the middle of the summer. So I started attending a different gym locating after that week and hadn't gone back until today, 12/26/23. The free weight room STILL has an issue with their AC system. It is HOT in that room, and we're in the middle of winter here. I immediately noticed the temperature change upon walking into the free weight room. It's not fun. Finished my workout and went inside the men's locker room to shower. There are no shower curtains for privacy. The sauna isn't as hot as other saunas at other LA Fitness gyms. I won't be going back to this gym for a while. Hopefully, if and when I visit the next time, they will have their AC fixed and provide us with a cooled down free weight room and some shower curtains for privacy in the men's locker room.

Original review: New member here! But oldskool bodybuilder, hehehe! So I used to be a member of a different gym franchise, and recently became an LAFitness member. I usually go to the one on Magnolia, but I was in the area and decided to check this one out.

So this gym is clean, very well kept, and with the changes and expansion they made to the weight room area it is now a whole lot better! Their weight room is so much more roomier and able to fit more machines and equipment, and you aren't elbow to elbow with other members. This is such a great change, I'm so happy they did this. Perhaps this change was made a while back, but I may not be aware of the actual date they did these changes because the last time I entered this gym was back in 2010 or 2011 I believe!?

The front desk staff could of been a little friendlier the morning I visited, but no biggie. After all, I haven't been back since that visit, as I usually go to the one on Magnolia. So it's possible it was just that one day.

It's great, locker rooms actually smelled good, equipment is clean and all functioning!

I enjoyed my visit here and will definitely be coming back when I'm in the area.

Went in for a week trial because my girlfriend was asked if she knew anyone who wanted to try it for a week and she gave them my number so I thought sure why not, I'll try it, I went in and asked for the free week trial and they brought be to a cubicle and asked me generic questions like how often I wanted to work out and what my goal weight was, then they asked me who recommended me and I said my girlfriend and they asked for her number so I gave it to them, then they said we need you to sign some things on this electronic pad so I'm thinking I'm signing liability waivers and on the second one I ask what is this for and the man says oh this is just making sure you are over 18 and then the third one he says this is a liability form but they never showed me any documentation of what the forms were actually saying and I sign it thinking everything is ok because I haven't given them any credit card information, so far so good right? I start working out and when I finish my girlfriend noticed she had been charged $84 by them! She wasn't even with me when I was talking with them and signing forms, I never gave them her name, all I gave them was her phone number and they were able to access her account and charge her a new membership fee when I asked for a week trial! She never agreed to them charging her account, she wasn't even there! We were furious and asked for a refund but the lady Nikki who is apparently the only one able to do refunds had gone home for the day and they say she'll be in tomorrow from 9-5 so I go in the next day and they say oh she went to a wedding recital... really? You didn't know yesterday that you had a wedding recital to go to... so tl;dr they are able to charge an account without you signing off and they only have one person who is actually able to do anything besides take loads of money out of someone else's account. Never giving them any of my information because it is not secure and never going there again. All they want is your money and they will do anything to get it. And I'm pretty sure charging someone else's account without their permission is identity theft so they are doing illegal...

I've been going here for over 2 years, never really had any problems; but boss this had just gotten ridiculous: 1.) Cables have been taken away for about 5 months now, leaving only 2 cables for the entire gym population to use. When a friend's fiancee made a call to Corporate, they basically told her to piss off and go to a different LA Fitness. That ALONE speaks to their "customer service".

2.) Tying into the loss of cables, now that almost every cable machine is stripped, it forces many others to congregate on one set of cables thus resulting in the only sets being subject to repair. It seems like every piece of equipment in this gym needs to be repaired at least once a week.

3.) The gym is constantly a mess of weights all around the place, not only is it deplorable, but the fact that the tiny night shift girls have to go out of their way to clean up thousands of pounds of weights is childish and unsafe. I'm pretty sure if these girls or myself hurt themselves due to the others inability to clean after themselves or lack of initiative on the staff end. I will be more than happy to pursue litigation against LA Fitness and whatever subsidiaries they possess.

4.) Customer service is non-existent, PERIOD.

5.) The only reason I and many others come here is due to convenience, down the street from my work, my partners come here for the same reason. But rest assured, once 24 opens up the street, LA will see not a single dime from me anymore.

I'm glad I talked down the GM (who has the demeanor and courtesy of a shady used car salesman) to lowering my premium to 20/month. I can't imagine being one of the other members getting screwed out of 34-40/monthly. This is ridiculous and one star gives these thugs too...
