If i can give this place a zero just because of my experience at the admissions office i would. My rep was cherish she was extremely rude , unprofessional, & discouraging. I was interested in the lvn program here so i booked a tour and for further information, and i happened to land an appointment with cherish i walked in the door feeling really excited and walked out feeling stupid and i even cried when i got to the car it was by far the worst experience i ever had touring a school. once i was in her office she made small talk and then started answering & making personal phone calls during my appointment. I don’t mind when people need to answer the phone due to a family emergency but she was arguing with someone on the phone and using unprofessional language. Honestly that should have been my sign to walk out the door but i wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt so i stayed got the information on the program and she asked me basic questions like if i attended college or if i had any experience in the medical field which i answered that i had none right then and there she already made me feel like i couldn’t do the program because according to her i had no “educational foundation” which okay i get i had no college degree or medical training but that doesn’t mean that anyone is anything less than capable of completing this program just because of that. I know so many people who went straight for their lvn with no prior experience or schooling and they were 100% successful. She was extremely discouraging starting at that point. She had asked me what made me want to be a nurse and i told her to help people & to learn to care for them and that once i became an lvn i wanted to work in pediatrics she then proceeded to tell me “lvns don’t work with kids they only work with adults” so that my expectations are unrealistic? Which i looked into and you can specialize in anything you want too. She offered me the medical assistant program before i even took the test. She said that the MA program would be less challenging for me. You NEVER judge a book by its cover and assume they cant do something just because they have no prior experience because at that point you as a admissions representative are turning away a large number of potential students. I let her know that i was touring a school for me and my best friend as we wanted to enter the program together my friend does have experience as she completed a cna program in a community college and you know what cherish told me about that? She said CNA’S are the worst of the worst. That all they do is “wipe peoples butts”. One thing is to discourage me and tell me I’m not smart enough to do a program but to bash CNA’S because you don’t think its a fulfilling career to you is completely and utterly unprofessional if you ask me. Don’t even get me started on her saying that an MA salary is almost the same as an lvn which is also not true. She was saying so many things to try and discourage me but all it did was make me want to prove people like her wrong. Yes i did fail on my wonderlic test when i took it here , one i was not prepared to take an exam as she did not tell me i had to take one over the phone, 2 of course im not going to do well when the admissions representative was already telling me i was a failure prior to taking that test. I did visit 2 other schools Summit college & American Career College and i had such great experiences at both colleges. I passed my wonderlic with a 22 at summit and at acc i got a 27/30. So please look at who you hire especially the people who are supposed to make you interested in attending.if anyone is considering to go to school for an lvn definitely consider any other schools besides northwest or if you do consider this school and you have no prior college or experience in the medical field definitely don’t talk to cherish because she will make you feel like your not smart enough and anyone can do anything they set their minds too. And i hope you guys as a family owned school reconsider hiring...
Read moreI read the reviews and I chose to believe the positive feedback but I think I must have done the worst financial decision of my life. THIS SCHOOLS COMMUNICATION IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE I’m putting that in all caps because I really need possible future victims to know. I had a good job as a MA already but I wanted to further my career and become a Surgical Technologist so I quit and got a part time job so I could go to school because the class I needed was from 1-6:30 it’s so hard to find any jobs that will help with that but I made it happen. I digress, the point is I didn’t pass a class because I was so busy at work trying to make things work out so they told me I had to wait until next semester. Come that semester I had a spot and I was ready to start and last minute they told me there was a change in curriculum so now I have to retake a class I had already passed and here’s the kicker since then It’s been nothing but pointing fingers of this and that person isn’t getting back to me and I’ve received zero calls back and I call every single day and every time it’s “I’ll call you back” they never do turns out they sometimes go home early and of course don’t worry about calling back. Now, know this, if the school can’t get it together to get you in a class you will end up starting to have to pay your loan before graduating so if you don’t make that much money you’re basically screwed. It mostly seems like they don’t care because they already have my money so they will never call me back to start again. The classes are hard so if you work and go to school I promise you will struggle and when you do try to get in you’ll have to pray because it seems no one is listening or helping. The school director Tammy is extremely dismissive a very “what do you want me to do about it” kind of person I asked to clarify what she does because maybe I was asking her to help with the wrong things and she said “I just do paperwork” and told me to talk to someone else for the hundred time given I had to go to the school to hear that a random day because she never emailed me back despite me telling her I can’t answer calls because I have no service as work and she never left voicemails when she supposedly called back. I’ve been tossed around from person to person and campus to campus with zero accountability but I have all the will to start this and finish it but that alone they obviously don’t care about. So do yourself a favor and go to another school because that’s only the beginning. The way they teach you might as well read the book and teach yourself, students before me are yet to get a site to o complete internship and graduate and it’s been 4 months for them so they will soon have to start paying their loan too and have not graduated, student on my past term haven’t gotten a response on their sites because the ones in front are backed up. The person submitting paperwork to get a site for them doesn’t call back or respond to emails heck they never answer the calls. And to top it off the coordinator LOST A STUDENT VACCINATION AND MEDICAL RECORDS (isn’t losing track of medical records a HIPPA violation!?) and then she had to go redo a whole physical because he misplaced the documents even though she submitted everything on time and now she’s on hold or has to drive 50 something miles from home to do her internship. So please reconsider enrolling because it’s a disaster truly disgraceful not at all the kind of people I’d want to work with in the medical field because they should be teaching you accountability, integrity, and respect. So much for following their...
Read moreOk, I am a mother of 3 kids. And a wife. I work as a cna. I decided that I wanted to become a lvn. So I started looking into lvn programs. Both of my sisters in law were in the north-west lvn program. One of them just graduated from this school. I paid $300 dollars and enrolled, and started the SOS. I was so excited, to begin. I started the evening class. And on the 3rd night of class, my husband text me and tells me that he is at the ER, my 3 year old broke her leg while in the trampoline. I told my teacher, I had an emergency. And inform her of the situation. I left early. And then next day I talk to Sandra, I told her I left early. She told me that its considered an unexcused absence. To get it excused I need a court order. And I still need to make up the 5 hours. I asked her. Can I still make it to term 1 even though I'm going to have an unexcused absence. She ensured me that I could still make it to term 1. I went to the school on Friday morning and talked to a lady named Karan. I asked her too, if I make up these hours and all my work, will i make it to term 1. She told me yes. That if i score high on all my test. That I should be fine. So I was there for 5 hours, making up time. I scored high on all my exams. And they dropped me. They get 45 students to enroll only 30 get a spot. The sle, the pax, the sos class and attendance. They all count for 3 points each. So 12 points total. They gave me 1 point for the sle, one for the pax, one for attendance and 3 for the sos class. Which gives me 6 points. You have 7 days to cancel for a full refund. If they would have been honest with me a told be from the beginning that I dont have a chance to make it. I wouldn't have wasted my time and money. I was never told that they go by this point system. I was never shown this paper, that says how many points my test were worth. And I scored pretty high. I got a 93 on the pax, and on the sle I got a 20. I would have canceled that same day. But they said that I will be fine to move forward. Lies. I never had a chance. Believe me, I was upset. They dont care, they tell you , " life happens, things happen that are out of your control". And that they will work with you. It's all lies. It's your choice if you want to enroll. This is my experience. Also, they judge you on how you dress, and the way they talked to us was unprofessional. One of the CPR instructors told us all to "shut our mouths." Just like that. Mind you, we are all adults. I'm not talking about the teachers. I'm talking about the staff of the lvn program. My rep even said it was wrong. If you enroll. Dont be absent dont leave early dont be late. Because it's all considered an unexcused absence, no matter what the reason is. AND THEY WILL DROP YOU, NO MATTER WHAT. they will tell you your fine you will still make it. But they just want you to get passed those 7 days. So they can get your money. I'm done with north-west college. I'm just waiting for that bill to come...
