Revised 02/14/2022 Great little full service market in Grandin Village. Firstly, the parking, including accessible slots, is along the building's side, a few steps outside the door - fantastic! The bulk spices, teas and dried herbs are better and less expensive than anything available in the usual small supermarket boxes. Box items like macaroni and cheese are similar to those sold in large grocery stores. However, diligent perusal of shelves shows, much to my delight, items like macaroni with pumpkin and sweet potatoes. For me, the highlight of a shopping trip to the Co-Op s the tiny bakery section at the rear of the stores. The area around the bakery has recently been converted to a hot dish and salad bar. Items are available by scale weight for eat-in at the front of the store or take-out. The bakery still carries everything from delicious bread to sweets like scones and cookies. The Co-Op also carries a good assortment of standard grocery-store fare, most of what is available on any given day, is organic and some portion may be GMO. ***I am happy to say that my recent shopping visit to the Co-Op showed radical changes in the Produce section. My attached photos show that leafy Greens are now under an intermittent sprinkler system that keeps them dewy fresh. Other highly perishable items are displayed on refrigerated shelves. Root veggies and and fruits with thick skins like apples and citrus are attractively and enticingly displayed. Floral bouquets showed some improvement, but quality is still lacking for the price charged.

Suzanne in the deli makes the BEST pizza. All of the employees at this location are fantastic. The hot bar and salad bar are spot on delicious. Edit: Suzanne’s son Devon, who stocks the store is the nicest most helpful young man; When I came into the store today, he was stocking and scrubbing the bottom shelves and he got up from what he was doing and went in the back to get me 3 boxes that I needed to move. This young man is genuinely the nicest, hard-working and nice guy. I really appreciate him. EDIT: Crystal in the deli is now tied with Suzanne for making the BEST pizza! And I lived in Manhattan for years so I'm no pizza push-over. The pepperoni is the same price as the cheese ($5.19) but the cheese is fire!

I can't believe it's taken me so long to go to the co+op since moving to Roanoke. I moved here from Charlottesville and it's like an updated and modern Integral Yoga Natural Foods (which I love and used to work at) I'm so excited to know they have a water bottle refill station for my 5 gallon jugs. They're open until 10 every day and every employee I happened to come into contact with was wonderfully helpful and kind. Good people and good food! Can't wait to go back work my empty spice jars to fill them up from the bulk containers!

I shopped here on three separate occasion and the first two times I saw customers complaining about employees. I thought the customers were overreacting at first, until I was treated impolitely. I was refused a purchase of beer because the employee did not accept my ID. I am 32 years old with a beard and mustache. I produced a valid Military ID and an Arizona State ID and the employee said they could be fake! I thought it was humorous if not embarrassing, but I wrote a note in the complaint box leaving my phone number and stated that I would return shopping there once management gave me a call.

That was 3 months ago and I still have not heard from them, nor will I ever shop there again until I do. One of the ladies I saw complaining was about an employee yelling at her children. I now think this too was...

I love this place! Good selection and reasonable prices on organic foods. They don't carry any fat-free milk or feta, which are staples in our house, but they do have fat-free yogurt. I go there specifically for Gimme Lean sausage and usually end up buying other groceries too.

The only negative thing I can report is that today we were both hungry when shopping here so we got deli sandwiches. The dressing, which we were unaware was already on the turkey wrap, was not to my husband's liking, but he was able to eat it most of it. I had one bite of mine and couldn't eat any more. I got a ham & cheese in its place. That was tolerable, though not enjoyable. It was very salty, and some part of it I couldn't isolate seemed incongruently sweet. Our dog was happy with both when we got...
