Before I left the store I told the woman I’d leave a review about her. We entered New To Me Consignment Boutique today on Grandin Rd. There was also one other person (this customer was white) shopping at the time. From the time we entered the door until the time we left the owner followed us around the store. Made us extremely uncomfortable to the point she basically ran us out of there, we were so disgusted that we didn’t even want to spend our money with this business. It is very stereotypical to assume just because a person of color enters a business we are there to cause trouble. We were looking for home decor and thought it would be nice to support a small business and try somewhere new that may have some nice things. Every turn we made she was right there, everything I touched she ran over to, and even at one point she stood there and stared at us while the other customer was just freely shopping in peace. I've shopped at this store for years. I've noticed a marked difference recently though. The store isn't as organized as before...probably within the past couple years, the whole experience has changed. One thing that I really dislike in any retail space is being completely ignored when I enter; I'm shopping....ready to spend money....and staff completely ignores me. This happens pretty frequently at this shop. I am not sure who is sales staff and who is upper management, but there's a particular employee there that has an absolutely horrible attitude--I don't recall her ever acknowledging me--she looks very angry. I'm not going back. I keep thinking "maybe she's having an off day" but that's not the case. There's a lot to be said about the energy coming from another person, and this woman is throwing some seriously negative energy. I'm not crazy about purchasing at a retail place and feeling like the very act of ringing up my purchases is a pain in someone's neck. I'll...

This store is a must-do! For everything from women's fashions, shoes, boots, accessories to furnishings, finding, and interior/exterior designs. Even holiday decor, vintage and more! The owner has very discerning taste and an awesome sense of business! She and the ladies who work there are amazing and personable! Very cool and down to earth.
