Macy's — Local services in Robinson Township

We live walking distance to Downtown Pittsburgh and miss the Macy's location in the heart of the city. We've found the Homestead Macy's to be lacking in selection, and we've found the customer service at the Ross Township Macy's to be subpar. With that being said we decided to try the Robinson Township Macy's location today because I needed some new clothing for work.

We entered the store as they opened at approximately 11:00 AM and immediately headed to the men's shoe department. My partner asked a nearby associate if she could assist us in locating a shoe I wanted, and I showed her a photo of it on the Macy's app on my smartphone. The woman said the shoe didn't look familiar to her, but she obliged anyways and went to search for a Size 11. After her first search was unsuccessful she volunteered to try another storeroom and came back quickly with the shoes in my size. They fit like a glove, and I was thrilled!

From here I tried on a pair of khaki dress pants and scooped up a good deal on an 8-pack of socks (I swear the dryer eats them!) We then went to check out and were first in line. A pleasant male associate checked both me and my partner out in a very courteous and efficient manner. He even went so far as to see if it would be more advantageous savings-wise to apply a 20% off discount for using our Macy's cards OR a 25% off discount if we also gave a $5 donation for the March of Dimes. I spent just over $100 and walked away with a great pair of weatherproof shoes, eight pairs of socks, and a nice pair of khaki dress pants, along with the added bonus of knowing I gave $5 to help a good cause. The associate who rung us up was very friendly and shook our hand before we left, too---quite a nice touch!

The only thing that prevented this Macy's from getting a fifth star was the annoyance we had that this location's opening time on Sundays was listed incorrectly on Macy's web site, so we showed up at 10 AM and then had to kill an hour in the suburban wasteland that is Robinson Township. We had other errands to run back in the city and would have done more of those earlier in the morning if we knew the store actually...

Went to this store to visit the MAC counter with my friend and client for a wedding that I have to do next month. An associate greeted us when we got there and was very attentive. She understood that I previously worked for MAC and stepped back to let me do my thing while checking in every now and then. Everything was going fine. After about 20-25min of being there, being helped, and finding what we needed completely out of no where a manager (Kerry) walked up and very rudely asked us if we needed anything as if we weren’t supposed to be there or were stealing things. I brushed her off and proceeded to ask the MAC employee if she had what I needed because she was great and I didn’t want her to lose a sale. As I was at the register I saw the manager still watching me! My client and I both felt that we were being targeted because of our skin color because there was absolutely no reason for Kerry to not only approach us when we were already being helped but to approach us the way she did. I filed a complaint and spoke to someone (I believed her name was Claudia) that was very understanding and apologetic, which I highly appreciated. Later I did receive a call from Kerry but she gave the worst apology ever and I could tell she was only calling because her job required it. She was making excuses for everything, wouldn’t own up to any of the feedback I was giving and it was almost like she had to choke out the words on the phone call. Absolutely horrible. I wasn’t compensated for anything or at a minimum given a sincere apology just given a dry weak apology that was forced out. I wouldn’t have even written a review if the apology...

Today (3-23-21) my boyfriend his sister and I went suit shopping for our upcoming event and we went into the store picked out some suit shirts and pants and ties since there were zero employees around to offer help we toke the liberty to take it upon ourselves to get my boyfriend a fitting room to try on everything and his sister and I were picking out different sizes for him so we could find something that fits one certain employee who works in the upstairs who’s name was Annie she offered us help BUT this was already 30 minutes into our shopping so then at this point it was completely pointless moreover my boyfriends sister went to get him a different shirt size and this employee Annie said that the shirts weren’t on sale today and told her the price of the shirt in a very rude tone even though we all clearly knew the shirts weren’t on sale then proceeded to say a certain size of shirt was not available when Steph(boyfriends sister) had it in her hands then again proceeded to yell across the store after Steph (boyfriends sister) had walked away and said “if you can’t find that size go to the kids department” which is very unnecessary because a store employee should not be yelling across the store to a customer who was ready and willing to spend a large sum of money on a new suit Annie’s actions are very appalling and upsetting to all of us the fact the an employee can act this way towards paying customers is truly unreal and very disappointing and shows that good customer service is hard to find these days.
