PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING DOG FROM HERE. Initially, our experience was great. Everyone was extremely friendly and excited for us to get a new puppy. EXCEPT FOR THE GENERAL MANAGER who treated an employee very poorly in front of us for making a minor mistake when doing our paperwork that was an easy fix and we were not upset at all. We were more upset and put off by his reaction to it. Unfortunately, we did not get his name.
I had written this review originally because we were told we would get a discount if we wrote a google review, which was fine. Original review: “Tarelle helped us find the perfect puppy. Was extremely helpful, answered all of our questions, was not pushy whatsoever and made our experience pleasant. Thank you Tarelle!”
Tarelle came in on her day off to help us purchase our puppy which was very kind. We were told from the BEGINNING that our puppy was a hybrid OriPei (Chinese SharPei and Pug mix). We were given the breeder information and all the paperwork the day we purchased our puppy. We thought nothing of it and trusted we were provided truthful information.
Along with this paperwork, our puppy’s vaccinations were provided. We were told she was treated for kennel cough but was not showing signs and was overall healthy. We have two other dogs and did not think she would be contagious as we were told she was not. A week goes by, our one dog becomes horribly sick with kennel cough. We immediately take both dogs to the vet to be treated. Our one dogs recovery was successful and he is doing much better, our other dog unfortunately will have to undergo surgery as he is not responding well to treatments.
We understand completely that this could happen at any time! Dogs get kennel cough, we get that. But what we don’t appreciate is being completely blindsided for a sale.
As I stated earlier in this post, we were told from the beginning that our puppy was an OriPei. We took her to the vet as soon as we got her and had dna blood testing done. Our puppy’s dna results showed she was 75% Chinese SharPei, 12.5% Alaskan Malamute, and 12.5% American Staffordshire Terrier. So we were pretty surprised at these results EXPECTING there to be pug in her.
We are not too sure if anyone else has falsely been given breed information. But when you’re spending $$$$$$$$$ on a puppy, you expect to get what you paid for. We feel very lied to and do not recommend anyone buy a puppy from here. Although, I see by the reviews that others have had wonderful experiences, I wanted to share our story as a warning. We understand the responsibilities of having pets and were fully prepared to take on whatever was thrown at us, but we did not expect this.
Thank you for taking the time to read this review, and I hope, if you choose to purchase a puppy from here, you...
Read moreOur poor puppy came home over a month ago and is still ill. Petland secretly added a warranty into the cost of the puppy for $399. We went back within the week of purchase when we realized it was separate from the cost of the puppy on the receipt. We asked for it to be refunded (not used) and the woman would not come out of the back to talk to us to refund it. We left our information for her to call us, and she never contacted is and it has been well over a month. I think this is called a bait-and-switch in PA. Later after not being refunded we filled claims under this warranty which is supposed to cover prescriptions for the kennel cough within 7-10 days of getting the puppy, and a heart murmur if diagnosed within three months (along with other issues). These are two issues with our puppy that we are attending to. It has been weeks and they still have not reimbursed for the medical expenses for these issues. The cost was almost $5000 to purchase the dog, and to date we have spent over $1000 in medical expenses. This includes bloodwork, prescriptions medications, examinations, and X-rays. We are now on a 7 month wait to see a cardiologist for the puppies heart murmur. I spoke briefly with the owner (male) about these issues and he said, that my vet is not always truthful, and also stated they are in it for the money. I mentioned that I’m very worried about my puppy, and it would be devastating if he were to pass away from the illness, and he said that he agrees and loves animals. A person that loves animals would never dismiss these issues and sell puppies from puppy mills. It is obvious that he is in it for the money and trying to place blame instead of being accountable. We ended up at Petland Robinson store to originally purchase a collar and fell in love with the puppy we took home, because we could not leave without him. I would highly recommend never ever buying from a pet store and more importantly Robinson Petland . Please try to adopt or try Keystone Puppies who are reputable from my experience. I also learned that my friend purchased a husky puppy from Robinson Petland and it died within two weeks. After researching more into this store they have a horrible reputation and other issues have been brought to the news. I feel so bad for these puppies. You can’t trust...
Read moreI would give this place no stars if I could but had to do 1 star. So I went online and saw a German shepherd puppy that I was interested in. Me and my two kids lost our dog and I thought it was time for a new one. So I put the reservation online at 9am in the morning before the store even opened. The rep called me around 11am female stating she got the reservation and asked me what time did I want to see the puppy. I told her I have to work till 6pm which I did and she just said OK we got 7pm. She told me to wear a mask and how only a certain amount of people were allowed in the store. How only two people per puppy were allowed to see them. Nothing else. So I scheduled the appointment. So around 6pm I got in my car to go and I live about an hour away from the store. Ig I can get the puppy to me it was worth the drive. So I get to the store at exactly 7:01 or 7:02pm and the store called me. Telling me the dog was purchased and just left the store at 5 minutes before we arrived. Apparently someone scheduled to look at the dog at 4pm etc. Now nothing was said to me that it was first come first served. What's the point of reserving if the dog can just be picked up. Then while in the store a nice guy rep you can make a told me that you can make a 500 deposit on a dog to hold it for you. He also told me the price of the other dogs there and it was 4500. Now I already wanted the puppy german shepherd and so did my kids. But they stated I can look at other dogs. No other dogs interested me. The only thing is it was bad business all around. It was a long drive for me and the least respectable and considerate thing to do is to tell people in advance. I will NEVER EVER go back. Even though the male rep was really nice and informative I would Never recommend anyone to go to this store. They just want your money. And they offer no apologies whatsoever. It was im sorry you can look at other dogs. Really. 1st impressions is a lasting one. I bought my last dog at Petland in East Liberty 7 years ago and it was way better. And my dog at that time was only 700. It's crazy. If you know whats best avoid this store as much as possible. This store is trash. Not the male guy rep though he's the only thing...
