UPDATED REVIEW - 4/14/24:|I visit this area every other week for work and typically stay at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott, which is a mile from this property. Recently it was booked up, so I had to stay here instead. The staff seemed friendly, the room was decent, the TV channels were limited, and the bed was ok.||But what was RIDICULOUS was all the QR code signs all over to pay for parking. I've never paid for parking here prior and I asked the desk clerk on my second day there about this. She said the Town of Robinson is requiring it as a way to may money. This is absurd! She said that they ride through the lots at night and scan the tags and put notices on cars that didn't pay, though I didn't pay that first night, I didn't get one. ||What a horrible way for the town to make money! There are already taxes billed to the room stay, this is an inconvenient hassle to travels to pay separately like this, especially to an entity that offers nothing to the traveler.||So, moving forward, just stay in other townships, like Findlay where the Marriott is... I know I will!||--------------------------------------------||Until staying here recently, I had stayed at every other Marriott property (and several Hilton properties) within 20 mins of PIT airport. |Check-in – Was just ok… The clerk seemed busy with so much more, thus prioritizing my check-in process lower in his list of things to do. He was somewhat friendly, just not as focused as he probably should be to provide a great first impression of their property.||Room – I got into my room and the first thing I tend to do is start the TV while I unpack dress clothes to let them hang and de-wrinkle a little. I looked around the room, but couldn’t find the remote control. Sooo…. I called the desk and the same guy who checked me in promptly brought me a remote. I used it and the TV wouldn’t turn on… Oh well, I gave up on this and finished unpacking and decided to stop by the desk on the way out to dinner to let him know. He ultimately got it fixed for me and it worked great the rest of my stay.|The bed in the room was fine. The bathroom was slightly odd because the toilet was so close to the vanity that sitting on the toilet was difficult as the toilet paper holder was protruding into the area where the toilet was, so I bumped it each time and getting toilet paper off of it was difficult – ridiculous ergonomics here! The shower is a newer style with no door and a glass wall, but water still sprayed out when using it. The long metal drain plate was missing, so there was a small drain below the ledge where that plate was supposed to be and the shower floor was really slippery, they clearly don’t clean entry area of the shower when cleaning the room.||Location – It’s a decent location, but the lights between the Parkway (376) and getting here, even tho it’s very close, are a pain! Typical of PA, they have silly “no turn on red” signs and there are too many lights, which are often red. I’ve stayed at the property next door before and forgot about this, which adds a few mins to your trip. I’ll definitely stay elsewhere next time.||Overall – The property really wasn’t bad, but I do find it way more convenient to stay at the PIT Airport Marriott, which is literally right off the highway, rather than dealing with the silly local roads to get to this property, so if the price is decent/comparable at that Marriott, I’ll go for it next time. The Moon DoubleTree is often the same price as this place and is really nice, so that’s another great option...
Read moreAs we checked out of Marriott Pittsburgh City Center (Our Con Hotel for Anthrocon 2024) on Monday July 8th before going to The Flight 93 National Memorial, we knew we were gonna be 80 miles away in Shanksville for most of the day. We called this hotel to let them know we would check in late Monday evening, using Bonvoy Redemption and we were guaranteed. After coming back from Flt. 93 National Memorial (A MUST VISIT), I bought last minute gifts in Pittsburgh alongside my Anthrocon roomie and friend Bob, who was visiting from Boston - we then met a couple local furry friends and had a final dinner at Haufbrauhaus Restaurant Pittsburgh before saying goodbye to the amazing city of Pittsburgh after a week of touring the city, museums and attending the world’s largest furry convention “Anthrocon” (17,639 attendees with over $100,000 raised for GreyPaws Sanctuary for senior dogs) it was time to head home to L.A. and this hotel satisfied our needs. Bob had to get me to Pittsburgh Int’l at 5am Tuesday morning (for 7am flight to Chicago O’Hare, connection to LAX) So, we arrived after 10pm and got in our room thanks to Kathleen at the Front desk - just an hour before the power outage, which caused me to not get any undies washed and dry. It was not the fault of staff, they did their best. However, I’m glad I had my fursuit bag and backpack sorted before the outage. The power did come back up before 2am and I got maybe three hours (maybe less) before checking out and Bob driving me off to the airport. It was a smart choice versus staying downtown for one more night. Staff friendly and supportive. I would return - FOUR CLAWS UP!!!! Thanks for reading my review of Fairfield Inn Pittsburgh Airport. Read moreNot particularly impressed. A couple of small issues, the pool and hot tub aren’t well maintained with paint peeling off the bottom and the sides stained and yellowing on both and the hot tub only had two working jets. The whole area has a feeling of neglect. The only 2 drawers in our room wouldn’t stay closed without using a footstool to block them. Some of the buttons on both remotes wouldn’t work so we couldn’t sign in to Netflix. Every afternoon the lobby had an absolute horrible smell for 2 or 3 hours. After several days I walked by a mop bucket that was still out and realized the smell was coming from the mop or mop water being used. The biggest problem however was that although we asked (politely!) every morning and reminded the front desk every afternoon that we’d like our room refreshed every day, we only actually got service twice out of 8 days staying. We were staying with kids and needed towels and vacuuming every day and one of the best perks of staying in a hotel is walking back into your room after a long day and finding made beds and empty trash cans. Even though we were assured every day that they were sorry and would be sure to get us the next day, they only came twice. By the end of our stay the woman working the desk was no longer really apologetic about the issue and seemed more irritated that we still hadn’t given up asking by that point. There’re are a ton of hotels nearby this one, even one right next door that we stayed in for our last trip. I won’t be returning to this one again and honestly, I’ll probably avoid the Fairfield brand in general...
